    Obama’s N.B.A. Picks
    By MARK LEIBOVICH

President Barack Obama’s NCAA basketball picks have been well-do ented, thanks to ESPN, which scored an interview with him two weeks ago in which he meticulously went through his selections with the sports network’s college hoops guru, Andy Katz.

But the First Fan – who picked North Carolina to win the tournament — has been publicly silent on his picks for the upcoming National Basketball playoffs. Until now.

At the end of an interview Friday with the New York Times (ostensibly about Vice President Joseph R. Biden), Mr. Obama was asked which teams he anticipated would meet in the NBA finals.

His prediction: Cleveland would play the Los Angeles Lakers.

No Celtics-Lakers rematch, in other words.

The president did not predict a winner, but was effusive about the Lebron James-led Cavaliers. “I’m telling you, those Cavs,” Mr. Obama marveled. “They’ve only lost one game all year at home. Thirty-five and one.”

“And they have home court advantage. That’s pretty impressive.”

Cavs beating the Lakers isn't that far-fetched, if the Lakers even make it to the Finals. That being said, seeing Lebron get a ring would make me throw up because of the reaction the media will have.

If there's one East team I am sure the Lakers would beat, it's the Cavs, they have terrible matchup issues with the Lakers. In a 7 games series, the Cavs getting 1 game would be a feat.

Celtics/Magic/Hawks/Bobcats are more of a threat.

The Cavs won't beat the Lakers or Spurs in a series so they'd better ing hope someone else takes care of those teams for them.

Nothing to see here, just the President jumping on the media train that is LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I'm not so sure the Cavs would beat the Spurs in a 7-game Finals series. Not too long ago a Cavs fan here said that this Cavs team is still crap and players like Delonte West, Wally, Gibson, and others wouldnt make a difference enough to win a le. And the only positive add this yr was Mo Williams. I don't remember who it was...but some Cavs fan on here said it when I brought up the fact that I thought the Cavs team was overall better this yr than last or the year before.

Not 4 times. On Xbox 360? Sure. Sorry but as I have said before, the Spurs just dont lose in the finals. They just dont. If they are able to get past the Lakers, they arent going home empty handed. It just wont happen. Cavs/Celts would compete and give the Spurs a series but neither is eliminating them in a championship round.

As for Obama's prediction...the only way the Cavs are winning a championship this season is if they avoid Spurs/Lakers in the finals.

obama also thinks he is a dictator. his word means nothing. he needs to concentrate on the economy.

he really goes out on a limb doesn't he? he picks the cavs and north carolina.

he's a typical front-runner bandwagon fan. i bet he wore a jordan jersey when the bulls were great. now he probably wears a lebron jersey. i wore a gervin jersey when the spurs were 21-61.

no son he just listens to everything that ESPN tells him. whatever teams that they say are going to win, he chooses them as well. ESPN is basically Obama's sports teleprompter .... without it, he is clueless.

he may have talked about the cavs more than the lakers, but that's normal since the lakers were greatly expected to make and win the finals this year. however, there were doubts about the cavs at the start of the season (whether mo would mesh with lebron, whether the celtics would dominate the conference instead, etc.)
