good riddance. I've tried everything to stay convinced that Kidd was a good pickup, but obviously he isn't. We got rid of speed, youth, & scoring because we believed Kidd had leadership, true PG abilities, & toughness (both mental and physical). We've gotten zero from him in the leadership & toughness department. him, let him go. We need to rebuild anyways.
Get Kidd, get a prospect PG in the draft.
JETTISON FARMAR for a legitimate 3pt shooter and keep Vuja glued to the bench.
Then what does that make Fisher/Sasha/Farmar?
Kidd is shooting 40% from the arc. ing perfect playing next to Kobe and in the triangle. He can hit the open jumper, he can push the basketball, he can pass/rebound, makes good decisions with the basketball and he's a better defender than any current PG the Lakers have.
Hopefully Buss ponies up cash while keeping Ariza and Odom.

Given that his decade-long career average is 34%, there's no reason for you to consider this as anything but an aberration.
Not that 40% is exactly great for a spot-up shooter - people like Derek Fisher and Chauncey Billups can shoot 40% in much greater volume, even though they have extremely questionable shot selection.
Kidd wont go to Dallas fullstop
Given that he's been the go-to scoring option most of his career the increase in his % doesn't seem like an aberration at all. He's getting more open looks due to defenses focusing Dirk. In the triangle next to Kobe, those open looks would only increase. That and Kidd has been playing plenty of 2 guard in a spot up shooter role this season. It would be the same drill in LA where the PG isn't required to handle the ball as much.
Derek Fisher has 278 3PA vs Kidd's 285
The difference is Fisher brings nothing else of value besides his spot up 3pt shooting. Can't dribble, drive, penetrate or finish worth a damn. Kidd brings all those things to the table.
So why spend the extra money on a name like Kidd instead of getting a specialist without the baggage?

Not Kidd's fault the FO constructed a jump shooting team that can't shoot. If anything, Kidd is somewhat of a reason Barea and Terry are having solid years.

Here's my ignorance showing but what the hey.....why exactly would they need Jason Kidd? Don't the Lakers have enough depth/talent? Wouldn't it be better to go after a younger body?

Kidd shoots 51% inside the paint (82games.com) which is 18% of his shots. More hyperbole.
Anyways, the point is Kidd is worlds better at driving and finishing compared to Fisher and brings a slew other positives to the PG position that does not exist on the Lakers atm.
