Anything by Jack Johnson.
So i need some help with some SAFE music. That's right i said safe. Me I kinda like the hard stuff or some hiphop. However we recently got a speaker thing at work and I really can't play my stuff over the speaker. So i need safe non threating music...as lame as that sounds. But nothing that's just horrible like Brittney spears or Jonas brothers. Nothing to bubble gum pop...or nothing to extreme like songs about killing babies. Oh and of course nothing with foul language. Basically anything a kid or old gramps can listen to. Below is a list already started...please add to it.
Nothing to old(EARLIER THAN THE 60'S) unless it's classicOh and no country.
Aerosmith - mutliple songs
alicia keys - mutliple songs
billy joel - piano man
blue oyster cult don't fear the reaper
collective soul -run
the cure - pictures of you
Def Leppard - love bites (this is kinda ify but i let it slide)
the eagles (almost all of them haha)
elton john- mutliple songs
eric clapton -mutliple songs
The Flaming Lips- the wand
fountains of wayne - Mexican Wine
godmack- Serenity
green day - wake me up when sept ends
GNR - November Rain
hoobastank - mutliple songs
hinder- mutliple songs
nickelback- mutliple songs
Led Zeppelin -dyer maker
lynyrd skynyrd- free bird....(although some might have a problem with the guitar at the end)
Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Wall Flowers - one headlight
I did not name all the songs on the list just a few to give you an idea of what I'm looking for, cause there is far to many to name all of them. I'm sure this board has a huge and diverse taste in music..so name a few.
NO LINKS..to your myspace or playlist. Just name the group and song. Thanks
Anything by Jack Johnson.
Try Nick Drake too.
im listening to pearl jam's ten =]
if you like hearing a jock act like he's a hip white rasta. ha.
dude reminds me of all the other cheese bands who have jumped on the reggae style bandwagon. can't stand the dude! johnson's like dane cook, both suck at what they are trying to do.
want some safe-real-reggae? hit up some steel pulse, gladiators, toots, max romeo, lee scratch, marley, niyorah, midnight, and many many more.
Hey, he's safe.
Throw in some Simon & Garfunkel, Jim Croce, and some Beach Boys.
Don't forget Dylan and The Band.
If you want it just a bit louder, go for CCR.
And, by that I don't mean that Cross Canadian Ragweed .
I'm talking about Creedence Clearwater Revival.
I've never heard a single song by Jack Johnson that sounded like it was going for reggae.
If you really want to be real "safe" and keep everybody happy, go for Richard Marx.
Although, I wouldn't recommend it.
Some of the older ladies might appreciate it, though.
He's got some good sounds.
But, I can see why some people wouldn't like him.
I dig his music though.
ah now that's a band!
wife was obsessed with "sitting waiting wishing" for a brief moment.
i'll look into other songs
ha you gotta be kidding me... upstrokes and downstrokes. have you ever listened to reggae?
ok this is all besides the point. i just can't stand jack johnson myself but i can accept the fact other like him and that he ain't the worst at what he does. i am just huge into reggae and don't like the imitators who try to water it down.
I'd also put The Shins in there.
I love their music.
Don't diss the Marx. "Don't Mean Nothing" is one of the greatest songs of the 80s.
I've never followed Johnson that closely, so I don't have strong feelings one way or the other, I just wouldn't have pegged him as a wannabe reggae artist. He's definitely got that laid back surfer sound, like the kind of guy who listens to reggae, but I wouldn't say his music has that structure.
Reggae is the only music that utilizes upstrokes and downstrokes?
"Should've Known Better" defines 1986 for me.
At least, I think it was 1986.
They played that at least 4 times an hour on the radio.
UB40 were imitators.
on them.
only pearl jam i have so far is "last kiss"
haha ah i could do with out the Beach Boys....to uh.. i dunno to joyful.
already got the marx... got plenty of the 80's stuff i think. Simon & Garfunkel ...i might throw in mrs robinson. Got some Dylan. I'll go with out CCR...
Rush
Bon Jovi
Pink Floyd
Beatles
i looked for it on youtube and it's 80's alright. Funny how the two gifs in my sig go right with the beat![]()
That's a good list.
How did I forget to suggest The Beatles?
