Who would give up prospects for an expiring contract. Dirk is gonna leave in 2010, if Dallas was gonna trade him it should of been this past year. Your only hope is a borderline contender looking to put themselves over the edge in the 09-10 season. Who can say who that will be right now?

I honesly think that he's a of a player, that has had bad luck and not enough talent around him. And by that I mean players and coaches.
It's true he's a great 1st option, but I'd land him in a team where he's argueably the first and most likely the second. Take the pressure of him and see what happens.
If I were Mark Cuban I wouldn't re build without him, but with him. Throwing everyone else away and starting it all over. I think that since tht 2006 finals the Dallas team hasn't been the same (of course) but most of all Cuban tried to patch the hole bringing Kidd (an easy choice) instead of being wise.

Here how it is. Rockets 5-1 record vs Bulls during 1st three-peat and would of probably whooped their ass in the Finals arguement >>> than if Jordan didn't retire...argument

Hakeem was my favorite player of all time. Back in those days, we Mav fans didn't have much to cheer for and I loved Hakeem's game. But I've never rooted for the Rockets for any reason whatsoever

Bad luck is the only reason Nowitzki's legacy is somewhat tainted. Dirk should be viewed as an NBA Champion and an MVP, not an underachieving choker, or a great player who never won a ring.

In 2006 the Mavs won a championship, but the whistles decided the got primadonna sex addict wheelchair who doesn't deserve his ring is more marketable than our big German. 97 free throws in 6 games.

Dirk's clutch shot in game 5 is forgotten due to whistles sending D-Wade to the line with 2 seconds left.

And Dirk had 29/15 in game 6, while his team mates shot 33%. Notable is Terry and Howard combining for 12-41 shooting.

In 2007 the Mavs didn't actually choke to the Warriors. We all saw that series, did the Mavs really look like a 67 win team and did the Warriors really look like a 42 win team? No, because the Mavs weren't really a 67 win team, they had an inflated record due to a 20-4 record in games decided by 5 points or less, and the Warriors had a deflated record due to injuries. In retrospect it was just a bad matchup and not as big a choke as some make it out to be. Dirk simply had a bad closing game, it's not as if he played poorly in all 6 games. In fact, his brilliance in game 5 was the only reason there was a game 6 in the 1st place.

These were the 2 years the Mavs had the best chance to win it all. In 2005 and 2004 the Suns/Kings were simply better, in 2003 Kerr hit a bunch of fluke shots and Dirk missed the final 3 games of the series, and the years before that the Mavs had a style of play not conducive toward contending.

In retrospect I think the Mavs were capitalizing on a down time in the NBA. They say jump shooting teams cannot win les but the Mavs were able to in 2006 in part due to weaker compe ion. The only reason the championship window was open was: Lebron and Kobe were on ty rosters, Amare was out in the 2006 season, young talents like Roy/Williams/CPWhistle/Howard/Durant were too young or not in the league altogether. The Big 3 in Boston didn't exist, etc. Now all these obstacles exist. The Lakers are here to stay for a few years and the Thunder/Blazers/Jazz are on the upswing. Oh how I weep for the beloved Mavs.

I actually agree with everything you say. I remember me and my brother discussing how Wade was getting all these calls. It was ridiculous.

About Dirk, I first saw him in Hoop Summit when the best U.S. high school players went up against the World's best. I believe it was Al Harrington's class. Anyway, no one could stop Dirk. He kept driving to basket every play. He didn't even have to shoot. It was amazing for someone his size. I thought he was going to be a dominating college player, but he made the right choice and went in the Draft when Nelson made a great trade. Imagine the Bucks with Cassell, Allen, Big Dog, and Dirk? They would have easily beaten Philly in the ECF and maybe stolen a couple of games against the Lakers. Dirk's surpassed my expectations. He's a definite Hall of Famer.

You can write it in the biggest size available, but I'm sorry. Your joke is lame as , and an unbiased judge has already ruled in our favor. You lose. Just take it like a man, or you can keep typing in big bold words and take it like the little boy you are.

This is nothing new, Mavs own the Rockets in the playoffs, Mavs fans own Rocket fans at smack talk. It's just how things are.

Where's the ownage? Did I miss something? Mavs don't own anybody. The Spurs beating the Suns year after year is ownage. The Jazz you could say own the Rockets. Then again '07 went 7 games and came down to the last few minutes.'08 Yao was out. Rockets are 2-2 vs Jazz this year.

Regarding the possibility of trading Dirk (even though I think it's dumb before next year since the Nets have our pick), what team out there is a PF away from contending?

The Bulls. Tyrus Thomas isn't the answer. Seriously, they've been a PF away for the last few years now. They should have kept Aldridge instead of trading for Tyrus Thomas.

You are one dense mother er. I HAVE NEVER ROOTED FOR THE ROCKETS, WHATSOEVER. In fact, I despise them because of the millions of fans of a certain 7'6 piece of , just like yourself. But I'll Give props where they're due, and Hakeem is underrated as although many people consider him top 10 all time. He's top 5 in my book. How do you say "reading is fundamental" in Chinese?
