It's obvious Vick is on drugs now.
I don't know what kind of access Michael Vick has had to newspapers, magazines and the Internet in prison, but it seems like the news that he is no longer a hot commodity has not yet filtered down to Michael Vick.
In papers he submitted to a bankruptcy court, Vick indicated that he plans on making $10 million per season, which I'm pretty sure would be a record for an ex-con who had a career quarterback rating of 75.7 when he went away. From the Atlanta Journal Cons ution:
The embattled Atlanta Falcons quarterback is hoping to earn as much as $10 million a year or more, according to court filings in his bankruptcy case. Under the plan he submitted to the court, Vick would keep the first $750,000 of his annual income over the next five years. After that, a percentage would go to his creditors based on a sliding scale. [...]
In a March 4 court filing, Vick’s attorneys say he “has every reason to believe upon his release, he will be reinstated into the NFL, resume his career and be able to earn a substantial living.”
“He is hopeful to play quarterback,” Daniel Meachum, an attorney and business manager for Vick, said in an interview. “There is no person with his talent in that position in all the league.”
That may have been true at one time, but there are also no quarterbacks in the league who have spent the last nine months sitting in a jail cell and eating prison food. I'm not a nutritionist or anything, but I'm pretty sure that's not what NFL team doctors would recommend for keeping a guy in optimum game shape.
The fact of the matter is that no one knows how Vick will perform when he gets out of the joint, though it seems extraordinarily unlikely that he'll look exactly the same as he did when he went in. Factor in the amount of teams scared off by the P.R. nightmare, and I think we're looking at a salary closer to $605,000, which was last year's veteran minimum for a seventh-year player.

Once he gets reinstated, he'll easily get a job in the NFL. Maybe not as a quarterback, but if he still has his speed & athleticism, plenty of teams will try to sign him.

For what? The Raiders have 3 RB's all capable of going over 1000 yards. A slot receiver? Johnny Lee Higgins is a good slot for Oakland.
You act as if Al Davis makes personnel decisions that make sense.
Who knows? Maybe he tells Vick to play cornerback. You really don't know with Al Davis.

Vick's speed is still world class. If he applied himself to playing WR, he could easily have a Joey Galloway type career. 60-70 catches, 1000+ yards, 8-10 TD's is very doable for a guy of Vick's talents.

The number one team with the most criminals in history is the Miami Dolphins. Dallas' players have just been the more high profile ones that got in trouble. Get over it...

don't underestimate the PR backlash. whether you agree with it or not, a lot of owners are not going to want to deal with the PETA protesters and getting dragged through the coals on the nightly news no matter how athletic the guy is (especially in a league like the NFL where one athlete won't even come close to making/breaking the season).
we saw it with bonds. even after a year out of the game, does anybody doubt that he can still draw walks and hit homers? but no MLB owner/GM wants to mess with their clubhouse and/or deal with the PR hit that would ensue from signing him.
I have no problem with an NFL team giving Vick a chance. What he did was de able. No denying that. But once he serves his time, that's it. His debt to society is paid. He's not a danger to society. I doubt he'll go anywhere near a dog again for the rest of his life. If he can contribute to a professional team and that team chooses to pay him for his services, so be it.
I guarantee you he'll be in Dallas if Romo chokes in a playoff game again.
This is absurd. He's a proven commodity at QB and a game-changing athlete. Three Pro Bowls before he was what, 28? Some doormat that wants to put butts in seats and get ridiculous pub will throw at least a couple million at him, or maybe one of those deals with ridiculous bonus incentives, PETA be damned.
I mean, San Francisco has to at least think about it, right?
