A light heavyweight bout between Forrest Griffin (16-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) and Thiago Silva (13-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), first reported by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), and the long-awaited return of Amir Sadollah (1-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) are both official for UFC 101.

Former "TUF" champions Griffin and Sadollah announced the bouts during the airing of the debut episode of "The Ultimate Fighter: U.S. vs. U.K."

The pair also confirmed UFC 101's Aug. 8 date in Philadelphia.

The news was announced in a segment en led "Inside the Octagon brought to you by Burger King: Late Night News Your Way." eTV officials informed MMAjunkie.com the segments are scheduled to air throughout the ninth season of "The Ultimate Fighter."

After confirming his bout, Griffin also showed off his surgically scarred left hand and described the results of the procedure necessary after his December 2008 bout with Rashad Evans.

"Got me a little plate and some screws," Griffin said. "Just one more piece of metal in my collection."

Meanwhile, Sadollah gave an update on what has kept him out of action since his winning run on "TUF 7." Sadollah also confirmed his drop to welterweight, a move first reported by MMAjunkie.com.

"I dislocated my clavicle, and it's all better," Sadollah said. "I dropped down a weight class, and I'll be fighting with [Griffin] at (UFC) 101."

Sadollah last fought in a June 2008 Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale win over C.B. Dollaway.

I don't care but he's incredibly out of line. No head of any major sport, NBA, NFL, MLB, you name it, acts in this fashion.. The UFC should not have Dana as it''s front-man if he can't tone it down in situations like that. I don't care how much he's done for the sport or how great a promoter he is.

Dana on his recent comments, his future, and his FINAL video blog
Hey guys, I'm Carmichael Dave's Producer.

Dave just got off the phone with Dana and Dave just went on the air and talked about the conversation. Here's the link to download the audio:

    http://mp3upload.ca/download/9882/da...ologue_low.mp3

    Some bullet points:

    * Dana will make a Video Blog Statement
    * Most surprisingly, it will be his FINAL video blog.
    * Dana says he has no interest in media "games"
    * He's tired, and is going to greatly reduce his PUBLIC role in the future.

Dave goes on to describe Dana's thought process and mood. It was a very candid statement.

    6.25 million buys in 2008... ~$280 million in PPV revenue (@ $45/ea)

Not bad, considering it "peaked" in 2006 at ~$220M in PPV revenue...

    Economy be damned too...

Its cheaper to stay home and have friends over for a PPV then going out and doing something else. I guess PPV's are recession bullet proof?

    in other news...

The UFC is just a machine. In 10 years i wonder if Boxing will even still be around? Most young guys will likely go the MMA route..

A middleweight bout between veteran UFC middleweight Chris Leben (18-5 MMA, 8-4 UFC) and recent WEC transplant Jake Rosholt (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will take place in August at UFC 102.

A source close to the negotiations today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) both compe ors have agreed to the fight and that bout agreements are in the process of being finalized.

UFC 102 takes Aug. 29, most likely in Portland, Ore. Although not officially announced, a heavyweight bout between former champ Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is expected to headline the pay-per-view show.

Leben, an Oregon native, returns to compe ion for the first time since his unanimous decision loss to Michael Bisping at October's UFC 89 event. Leben failed a drug test administered at the overseas show due to his use of the synthetic anabolic steroid Stanozolol.

News of the failed drug test first came from the UFC since the organization itself oversaw drug testing (UFC 89 took place in England, and the country has no regulatory body to oversee MMA events). As part of the announcement, Leben issued a statement apologizing for his decision to use the banned substance.

Prior to the Bisping loss, Leben, a cast member from the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter," looked solid in back-to-back knockout victories over Terry Martin and Alessio Sakara. He'll now go for his third win in four fights.

He'll look to do so against Rosholt, who was moved to the UFC when his former home, the WEC, eliminated its middleweight division. Rosholt, a three-time NCAA Division I national wrestling champion and four-time All-American at Oklahoma State University, faced a stiff test in his octagon debut when he was matched up against Dan Miller.

Rosholt's five-fight win streak came to a halt when Miller forced him to tap out from a guillotine choke just 63 seconds into their UFC Fight Night 17 bout.

A win over Leben, a proven veteran known mostly for his stand-up game, would be the biggest of Rosholt's young MMA career.

I didn't catch this before - Kang had a recently broken ankle going into his UFC debut:

Denis Kang (31-11-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) made his highly anticipated debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC 93 in Dublin, Ireland, not long after fracturing his left ankle.

He fractured his ankle on the first day of training in December 2008 for his fight with Alan Belcher (14-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC), and he struggled to get three weeks of camp in before the fight.

His performance was less than what was expected of a guy who for years has been regarded among the world's finest middleweights – Belcher submitted Kang with a guillotine choke in the second round – but do you think it might have had something to do with that gimpy ankle?

Kang wouldn't say it because he didn't want to take anything away from Belcher. But be serious: How strong could the ankle have been after he broke it, took two weeks off and then was in a fight three weeks later?

"I'm the kind of guy who doesn't want to pull out of a fight, no matter what," Kang said. "If there is a way I can fight, I'll fight.

"Anyone who fights for a living knows you really never are healthy in a fight. My right hand has been broken three times. You should see what I've gone through with that. It looks like a lump of flesh and bones. You do what you have to do. Injuries are part of it."

Kang will be healthy – or as reasonably close to it as he can expect to be – when he meets Xavier Foupa-Pokam (20-9 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC 97 on April 18 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
