He didn't play well today. Is that a reason to be happy/want to bench him for the rest of the season?

now you are going to be hater![]()
He's actually fairly correct as far as this season is concerned...
Now, he didn't come with silly takes like if Mason replaces Manu we can beat the Cavs or some such nonsense like that.
spurs had mason instead of manu against lakers and mason was playing great like he did early spurs would have won it all last year
but manu was hurt!
But Mason is playing like right now, and we already agreed that Manu has nothing to do with it. I certainly hope Mason can regain his confidence, but the reality is that you simply cannot compare Mason to Manu, period. And last season we lost for a whole lot of reasons, not just Manu being hurt. Including Horry being done, couldn't rebound the ball, couldn't stop Kobe, the entire team being fairly beat up after two grueling series. I think we all agree that Manu being healthy would have been enough to offset all those problems, and that, if anything, is a testament of how good Manu is.
So I definitely don't buy for a second that if you switch Mason with Manu we automatically win. As a matter of fact, as well as Manu played in the first two series, I doubt we get to the WCF at all.
Losing sucks but dropping to the 4th seed and possibly playing the Lakers in the semis doesn't sound too bad to me. Blessing in disguise? None of it will matter if Manu is done for the season though.
