Anyone think Pop would be a good announcer after he retires? I think he'd be hilarious. Something about not having to sugar coat anything anymore since he wouldn't be the coach.

Since Pop says he'll retire when Timmy retires then maybe they could do a sideline version of Frick n Frack.

No, he should move directly to the front office (G.M.----sorry R.C., he's been doing your job for years ANYWAY) then go out and grab a huge name to bring along the young talent and foster the consistency of our veterans.

I can just imagine some of the great on-the-air discussions.

Q: ... and what do you think about that great play to end the half?
GP: "I don't know if it was a great play or not. The ball went in the hole, and that's what they get paid to do."

    Q: Isn't this rookie's immediate success a bit unexpected?
GP: "I don't know about unexpected. If they didn't expect him to play well, they wouldn't have drafted him. He's playing basketball at a professional level, and that's what they pay him to do.

Q: ...that, by any standard was a vicious shot. He lost two teeth and had to go to the locker room for s ches, and yet there was no foul call. Don't you think the League will review this tomorrow?
GP: "I don't want to talk about the officiating. If somebody else has time for that, more power to them. I just... I don't want to talk about the officiating."

Q: What are some of the key matchups for tonights game?
GP: "Well, they are going to have to score more points than the other team. So to that extent, I guess the whole team has to match up."

Q: The Kings have only won 16 games all season. What could Kenny Natt possibly do to make his team compe ive against the Lakers tonight?
GP: "For sure start Michael Finley. Other than that, I really don't know."

Pop is a man of few words and generally doesn't like to voice his opinion.

You really don't even need Pop to actually be present at the games...about 10 taped interviews he's done looped continuously would do the job

I wonder if Pop would actually accept the role of the coach-analyst on TNT if they hired Finley to be the player-analyst.. , he'd probably work for free..

can you imagine the comparisons he would make when Kevin Harlan would ask him about random players..

Harlan: "Pop, how do you feel about Derrick Rose's game?"..
Pop: "He looks like he has the potential to be a great player. With some experience, added maturity, and more defense, we can start comparing him to a young Jacque Vaughn"..

Maybe on the radio. Pop's face is too ugly for TV.

I would love to hear Sean Elliott and Pop on the same broadcast. It would be like "Sean's Movie reviews" back on the old Pop TV Show

Actually it was a Spurs show on Saturday afternoons. One of the segments was a movie review with Sean and Pop, he was an assistant at the time. My bad, I should have clarified that.

GP: Refs started blowing calls before basketball was even invented.
