Not that I'm counting my spurs out or nothing close to that but with the slow burnout this team has been through this year has made it A job to watch them. I don't mind A tough season or A sub par one at that but I believe A team should be built with room for A little error. Even in our championship years we had A little more flexibility with guys like SJAX Kerr. A. Daniels. Claxton and you can name the rest. This year was apparently we go as Tim, Tony and manu, go. Despite the good record we had this year it was obvious that we had no room for error.( LA continued its run withot Bynum, Boston hung on barely without KG and Cle without Ben.) I don't expect A championship every year (NEVER DID I) but I expect my team to beat the beatable teams and go hard at the other Elites in the league. With this in my mind I started to counteract my frustration by imagining my thought of lineup for next season. (KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS FOR SH'S AND GIGGLES AND I STILL GIVE THIS YEARS SPURS A FIGHTERS CHANCE

    MY LINEUP FOR NEXT SEASON;

PF-TD/Gooden or Sheed( Take your pick) Bonner
PG- TP/Hill/ Dooling or A John of orl( Older but A proven backup that can score and will be available with the arrival of alston as backup
    SG- Manu/ Mason/Hairston
SF- Bow or Fin?/ Ariza or RJ/ Gist
    C-Ian/ Blatche/ Thomas

This is just my thoughts and I'm sure the FO has better ones but I just think this lineup would be interesting.

    What's YOURS???

Mahinmi shouldn't be starting C, if we get sheed i'd experiment with a a TD/Sheed backcourt.

Man I know Manu has had a tough year, but I really can't see Sheed replacing him in the backcourt. Also I think timmy has done quite fine in the front court. Are you saying we should we start Tony at Center?

    -_-. Frontcourt.

But Tony at center is still better then Bonner, so maybe I was right.

Iron who do you think L.A will let go in the offseason?
I'm not Iron but first priority for LA will be to re-sign Ariza. He may come in less than MLE with teams wary of paying in this economy plus teams wanting 2010 space.

After that will be the LO question. They will see if he's serious about playing for less. Again the economy almost demands it. If he accepts around 8 per he stays.

LA likely deals Farmar. He has value because many around the league believe the tri restricts him but he's not consistent nor plays the D LA needs to keep him. Its a reason why Shannon Brown is taking his minutes. Ideally they get a 1st round pick back for him. In a weak draft full of PGs, it would make sense for a 2010 team to take Farmar as a PG (he's only 21) in the last year of his deal than take a rook who will eat up space and would be more of a crapshoot.

Lastly, they offer the minimum or a small part of the MLE to any vet who wants to gravy train and fits a need.

This is all assuming LA wins it all. If they don't, I doubt LO is back.

If they don't win, yeah he'll be back. He likely is back if they win it anyway but I could see him riding off into the sunset. However, if LA won it they would be the heavy favorites the following year so he could add to his ring count, maybe he has visions of another 3-peat.

luxury tax threshold will be going down next year. spurs can only sign one MLE if any, and give some of their free agents a shot. so for your lineup, it's either sheed or ariza, not both.

i doubt the lakers can afford resigning ariza and odom + bynum's extension. that would put them at around $86 million with only 10 players. i took a quick glance at the top ten payroll of nba teams and it looks like every other team has dramatically lower salaries for 2009-10, with the exception of the celtics. celtics and cavs, the only other teams i see sucking up the luxury tax, will not have to resign anyone important. this probably means that if the lakers do resign odom and ariza, and add enough players for a 15 man roster, the lakers will have the highest payroll in the nba, topping off at $90 million. and the spurs will be down the chart hovering around the luxury tax threshold.

In your opinion, is Shannon Brown a better fit than Farmar? Or would this just a pure $$$ move?

why does everyone include 'sheed' and also assume Manu will play a key role for years to come?

For the record, I like your projected lineups. It's a bit liberal in that you're assuming the Spurs will have a lot of cash to throw around. Especially if they're going after some of those high-priced guys. Here's mine:

    PF- Duncan/Gooden or Rasheed Wallace/Bonner
PG- Parker/Hill/Jason Hart or Mike Wilks
    SG- Manu/ Mason/John Salmons (w/Hairston as a fallback option)
SF- Bowen/Gist/Luc Richard Bhah Amoute (w/Williams as fallback option)
    C - Ian/Chris Andersen/Thomas
