He will be a real contributor night and night out, if he learns to pass the ball back out. He becomes a black hole and, so whether he scores or not, it kills the offense which frustrates his teammates and the coaches. He just needs to trust that if he's covered, he can pass it and he'll get the ball back again. I know that it will be difficult for him to changes his ways and this team needs scoring however they can get it, but he just needs to be a little bit less of a black hole.

    Great game from Gooden tonight.

While his rebounding was Francisco Bonner like, his offense was damn good and he actually gave effort on defense and looked semi decent.

Hope to see more of these in the coming weeks, and if he can pull down rebounds like he was brought in to do, then all the better.

I'm hoping Drew Gooden isn't Samaki Walker redux.
Similar styles of play - you might be on to something. Where do you come up with that crap?

Drew Gooden is playing pretty good right now. I want more Gooden and Thomas in the Playoffs...and less Bonner.

Bonner really has to start playing small minutes..like 10-15 MPG..

Matt can be a good spark of offense when we need one..it's nice to see that his 3-point stroke is starting to look good again..he just isn't mean to be a guy that plays big minutes..he just doesn't have the physical tools, and he commits way too many stupid fouls..

Bonner is F'ing crappy. Whe Drew doesn't start I have no idea. Only thing I can think of is Pop is an idiot, which might be true.
Calling Pop an idiot not only shows your stupidity, it further proves how terrible of a poster you are

Drew Gooden is becoming the man. I sure hope Pop & RC don't get another of those over-sized corncob's up their ass and let Gooden go to another team next season. If they do then it will be a sunrise hanging for both!!!
Amen! And I'll bring the hoods.

I don't mind Drew coming off the bench because otherwise we'll have no one who can score and create their own shot on the 2nd unit.

Agree. He needs to less of a black hole. I also think that trust factor needs to go both ways. A couple of times, he's been open and didn't get the back because of a quick shot from a guard on the perimeter. Sean brought that up during the telecast that Gooden is so good offensively, if he's got it rolling, teammates should look for him.

Maybe next season Bonner will be relegated to the bench and Gooden, assuming the Spurs resign him, wins the starting job.

Imagine how nuts that starting line will be: Tony, Mason, anyone but Fin, Tim, Gooden. With both Tim and Gooden 100%, and with Gooden actually knowing the plays for the most part, this team will be scary good, as long as the injury bug leaves this team alone.

I'm really starting to like Drew Gooden. He is a beast on offense, but he does need to calm down and not rush himself sometimes. Also, like others said, he needs to pass the ball sometimes, but like Sean said today they really need to feed the ball to him when he's got it going. they should probably give it to him every time if Tim is out of the game.

the Spurs need to keep Gooden near the basket at all times, let Bonner or Kurt run the screens because Gooden is so good near the basket. His post game helps the Spurs a lot, his footwork is actually pretty damn good too.

He was impressive as tonight. Taking a charge? Are you kidding me? The guy had some moves and is actually buying into the system with defensive effort and even some assists. More than I expected, but pleasantly so.

I don't even mind the ball hogging..I would like him to reset sometimes after he's getting offensive boards though, instead of tipping or rushing up a bad shot..

His rebounding and defense still suck and he's still a ball hog.

This guy is Ron Mercer and Nazr Mohammed combined.

Gooden has contributed to some wins this season by stepping up on offense when no one else would. He's even trying on defense.

He definitely has some flaws like not setting screens too well, getting cheap fouls and not looking to pass back to his team mates, but I will take it right now. If he can improve on all those areas he will be great for us. I think he's already showing signs of improvement.

    Take your hate someplace else.

I'm just saying..can you imagine how bad we would be right now if Gooden wasn't on this team? with Manu out, we've DESPERATELY needed his scoring..great pickup..

Because he likes the ball on the block, that alone could lessen some of the pounding on Timmy - at least when they're on the court together. We all know there's not been another low post scorer on this roster since... since....well, you get the picture.

Oh how quickly we forget where this team was just a few short months ago. We have been begging for ANY sort of help on the front line all season long...and you want to nitpick about a scoring big who we signed for the minimum?

15ppg over the last 5 games. Just stfu.

What Gooden is supposed to do is just some dirty works like grabbing rebounds and acting as a shield in front Tim against the opponent beasts like Millsap. I'm very delignted to see Drew played beyond our expectations last night, but his points will definitely be shortened when the defensive becomes much tougher in the post season. Gooden is also pretty good at scoring but the main reason he used to earn an above mid-level contract is just his great defensive skills and rebounding work.

    Amen!

Can the combo of Oberto, KT and Bonner even come close to that level of production? I think not.
