I was just wondering what the tiebreaker situation was for us against the nuggets, rockets, and blazers? Also, what if there were like 3-way ties?

    Here's the tiebreakers list.

    (1) Head-to-head
    (2) Division record (if the teams are in the same division)
    (3) Conference record
    (4) Record vs. Playoff teams, own conference
    (5) Record vs. Playoff teams, other conference
    (6) Net points, all games

    Nuggets own tiebreaker against Spurs
    Blazers own tiebreaker against Spurs

    (assuming Denver keeps 2nd place)
if Houston/Portland/Spurs win out their remaining games the Spurs will get the 3rd seed.

Spurs lose out in most tiebreaker scenarios. Denver and Portland both won the season series against the Spurs. The Spurs and Rockets split, so you have to go through other tiebreakers. If the Spurs and Rockets tie at 54-28, then the Rockets finish ahead based on the fourth tie-breaker, best record against Western Conference playoff teams. If they tie at 53-29 with the Spurs last loss coming against the Warriors or Kings, the Spurs finish ahead based on the second tiebreaker, best division record.

If the Rockets, Blazers, and Spurs all win out (and Denver wins at home against the Kings), there would be a 4-way tie at 54-28 between the Spurs, Nuggets, Blazers, and Rockets. As I understand the rules, a 4-way tie would end up as follows:
    2. Rockets
    3. Nuggets
    4. Blazers
    5. Spurs

if Houston/Portland/Spurs win out their remaining games the Spurs will get the 3rd seed.
If Houston/Portland/Spurs win out, then Denver can't keep 2nd place because they would lose their last game against Portland which would result in a 4-way tie. I am nearly certain that after the tiebreakers are applied in a 4-way tie at 54-28 that the order would be Houston, Denver, Portland Spurs.

I believe this only happens in 3-way tie between Portland, Houston and the Spurs at 53-29 where the Spurs last loss is against the Kings or Warriors. In that case the Division winner is determined first, and the Spurs win based on best division record and get the 3 seed. The tie between the Rockets and Blazers then goes to Houston based on head-to-head record.

That 3 seed would be sooooo lovely, the blazers could give the lakers alot to handle in that 4th seed in round 2 hopefully, anyway to derail the lakers is what i'm hoping for.

Too much depends on games yet to be played. The Spurs could win all the rest of their games, and still wind up with the 5 seed. Or they could conceiveably lose one more game, and still wind up with the 3 seed. The only way they could get the 2 seed is for Denver to lose both of their remaining games, Portland to lose 2 of their last 3 (beating only Denver), and Houston to lose at least one of thier last 2 games.

If the Spurs and Rockets win the rest of their games and finish tied, the Rockets will win the division, because they have a better record against playoff teams. (It may go all the way to playoff teams in the East, but we lose.)

If Houston loses to New Orleans, then the Spurs can finish in a tie with Houston and still win the Division, becuse we would have a better record against division opponents.

If the Rockets beat New Orleans, then any tie between the Rockets and Spurs would still give the division le to Houston.

The Blazers and Nuggets both own head-to-head tiebreakers against the Spurs. The Spurs could win their division, and still wind up with the 4 seed if they are tied with either of those teams.

Bottom line - the Rockets and Blazers both need to lose a game for the Spurs to have any chance of getting a 2 or 3 seed.

Got all that? My head hurts.

....im just thinkin back all the stupid losses we've had in the last 3 or so weeks when we were up by a good amount. Now it looks like we prob are going to have to settle for 4 or 5 which sucks balls. Well go NO against houston-pulling hard for them but we shouldn't have let it come to this -oh well.

one more thing, Im almost guaranteeing a dallas win over the rockets in DAL (mavs looks really good right now) for the last game for them so if we can win out we hold our own destiny.

So if the Rockets lose 1 game and the Spurs & Blazers win all their games, it will be :

    2 Nuggets 54-28
    3 Blazers 54-28
    4 Spurs 54-28
    5 Rockets 53-29

I prefer the Rockets with HCA. The Blazers are not a good first round matchup for the Spurs.
And if we can win against the Rockets then... FTL !

    Seeding doesn't matter.

Without Manu, the Spurs aren't going anywhere.
