    TP Born: 17 mai 1982
    Deron Born: 26 juin 1984
    what a difference
the age isn't a big issue in fact. I mean Tony Longoria will be more sensitive to age than Deron is. stronger PGs always play much better than the other contemporary PGs who are not as stronge as them. for a speed-first PGs, 3 quarters of his athletism is formed by speed which is always most affacted by his age. for example, Jason Kidd is still the best the PG in NBA ( 2nd best player oval), while Steve Nash has already quitted the range of superstars.

it would have been reversed if Deron were a boy in blue.

very bad example i think. Nash was made by D'Antony system, and he floorished rather late in his career, obviously after his physical prime.

no more IF. we'll never know. but TP was able to win les being a major player of his team. D-Will and CP3 not yet. and that's a fact.

PS: i hope i've understood well, because i don't see what means "boy in blue" in your post, but i assume you talk about reverse position between TP and D-Will respective team's.

That's why it says "Team: Houston Rockets" in your profile?

Anyway I wish the Spurs would meet Utah in the first round. D-Will needs a bit more "exposure".

Deron everytime especially at this stage of Duncan's career. The team would thrive with a pg that got everyone involve more. I love tony but his stength is speed and scoring, Deron can score but he make guys better by getting them the ball at key spots on the floor and running the offense, Tony does it by getting to the rim, being a scoring threat

Ain't that the truth. Tony is a fantastic scorer, Chris Paul and Deron Williams are fantastic point guards -- there's a world of difference between the two distinctions. Plus, for everybody crowing about all Parker has accomplished compared to those two, they weren't fortunate enough to play next to Tim Duncan for nearly a decade. I'd say that's had an impact on Parker's resume.

As of the moment, Tony is the better one among the two. Tony somewhat carries the Spurs now that Tim is playing on one leg and Manu is out. Deron can't do the same with the Jazz.

TP has been playing with Mr Timothy Freaking Duncan and a dude called Manu Freaking Ginobili...DW has been playing with........ with...... no ing body..... get it homer, your boy is good but this is a TEAM sport.. again TEAM sport ... you frenchie homers are kind of slow.

Tony was a major player in those les. there are some players for whom you could say that the les they got was just being at the right place at the right time.

but when you're one of the go-to players of a team who win a le, that means a thing.

Stats don't tell the whole thing. and yes, tony was lucky to have Tim on his side.

but Tim would have been nowhere alone, especially in 2005 and 2007.

The point of this game is to win games and les. not to be well ranked into some lame TOP 5 or TOP 3 or Top whatever.

this american obsession to rank players and things related to sport is weird and useless.

indeed i think this obsession for ranking has the same cause that the one who made you bring this lame hackneyed joke : over-simplification.

it's too hard for you to make an original and funny joke, so you bring some old lame cliché who's supposed to make you look smart and funny. but you're still a redneck.

same thing with ranking. Understanding that stats aren't everything and don't tell the whole thing. Understanding that a player can flourish somewhere but wouldn't succeed elsewhere in a different system, whatever his talent. all these things are too difficult.

so, you want a clear and easy ranking. this way, you know who is the n°1, 2, 3 etc etc......... Mass medias have a bright future.

Almost as cliched as assuming somebody's a redneck because he's an American cracking a joke about a Frenchman. I've actually been to France -- dad was in the Air Force, stationed at RAF Greenham Common in southern England from 1987-90 -- and although the stereotypes regarding hygiene and courtesy definitely exist for a reason, I thought it was awesome. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Otherwise I find it amusing that, despite dismissing rankings as weird and useless, you're the only one in this thread who has actually taken the time to do so in any depth. If that's how you really feel, why bother? (Back to the subject of cliches -- what could be more French than insulting something Americans like?)

Why should anyone consider being ranked third in the best league in the world at your respective position as being ignored? That's actually an indication of very high regard, especially considering one of those players, Chris Paul, is rapidly establishing himself on a historic level.

So with one of those slots off limits, he's either 2nd or 3rd. Kenny Smith put him at 3 behind a guy averaging 19 and 11. Big ing deal.

Offensively, I think Smith is dead on. They all score about the same amount of points, but Paul and Williams are clearly better playmakers by a consider margin. Which baffles me, considering the ease with which Parker gets into the lane. But he's basically a shooting guard in this regard, as opposed to the very pure 1s that are Paul and Williams.

Defense is much harder to qualify considering its such a collective effort. But I've always thought Parker was one of San Antonio's weak links, and it's starting to show now that Bowen is done, Ginobili is in and out of the lineup and Duncan has lost a step. I just don't think he's anything more than adequate in terms of keeping his man in front of him.

I haven't seen nearly enough of Williams to make even a half-assed assessment in this regard. So I won't. Just watching him against the Lakers and whatever odd games I've seen over the years, he's no worse than average.

But Paul...I think you do him a huge disservice by discounting his impact as a mere "gambler." Kobe Bryant -- who as a Laker fan I think is vastly overrated as a defender -- is a gambler. Paul, on the other hand, is blessed with an incredible instinct and timing for for getting his hands on the ball, just like Jordan or, closer to home, Ginobili.

That can cause an incredible amount of havoc over the course of a game in terms of tipped balls and forcing the opposing point to pick up the ball earlier than he wants. Indeed, the Hornets nearly pulled off a huge comeback over L.A. earlier this year with Paul making a couple of huge steals down the stretch.

Paul's big weakness is that, like Parker, he's slight of build. Otherwise, I think he's better -- offensively, defensively or any other facet you want to come up with.

And for every playoff series where Tony's come up big, there's another where he didn't -- 03 Finals, 04 against the Lakers, 05 Finals. So I'm not going to give him a huge amount of credit for playing next to Tim Duncan. Plug Paul or Williams into any of those last three championship teams, and they're every bit as good, if not better.

    3. Deron

Chris is a dirty player. Watch on Wed night how he grabs, throws elbows, etc. Tony is faster.

Deron threw a fist to Matt's face last night. He tries to out muscle you. Tony is faster and makes better cuts. Tony reads the floor better.

Tony needs to stay off the floor. Hitting the floor as much as he does is not good for his body.
