It gets really complicated if Houston, San Antonio and Portland finish in a three-way tie. The first step to break that tie is determining whether Houston or San Antonio wins the Southwest Division. Since the Spurs and Rockets split four games, division record would be the next tiebreaker. San Antonio has a half game lead now, but if each team wins it remaining division games, they would tie there, too. They also have identical conference records, which would push it to the fifth tiebreaker -- winning percentage against other conference playoff teams.

    Tiebreakers
    (1) Head-to-head
    (2) Division record (if the teams are in the same division)
    (3) Conference record
    (4) Record vs. Playoff teams, own conference
    (5) Record vs. Playoff teams, other conference
    (6) Net points, all games

    As of April 13, 2009;
    Spurs Division Record 9-6
    Rockets Division Record 8-6

    GO SPURS GO!!

As of today, Spurs have it by 0.5 division games. Rockets have 2 more division games (Hornets and Mavs) and Spurs have the Hornets left.

If both teams win their last two games, it will be determined by (4) Record vs. Playoff teams, own conference

The tiebreaker between the Spurs and Rockets is now relatively simple to state:

If they tie at 54-28, Houston wins

If they tie at 52-30, Spurs win

If they tie at 53-29 with the Spurs loss coming against GS, Spurs win

If they tie at 53-29 with Spurs loss coming against NO, Houston wins

The Spurs relative placement against the Rockets will not change if they are part of a 3-team or 4-team tie, since the first thing done in those situations is to determine the division winner.

    That's it!

Spurs should win GSW and NO.

Lets hope Rockets will lose tonight vs New Orleans, or at least they should lose to the Mavs on Wednesday.

Portland will probably win tonight vs Thunder. But they play in Denver on Wednesday, so they could lose that game.

It would be perfect if Spurs win 2 games, Rockets lose 2 games, Denver lose 2 games and Portland wins Denver and loses to Thunder. Then the Spurs would be in 2 place.

But I gues it will end like this:
    1.Lakers
    2.Nuggets
    3.Spurs
    4.Rockets
    5.Blazers
    6.Hornets
    7.Mavs
    8.Jazz

there could be a 4 team tie with Denver in the mix since they play Portland the last game of the year
