Its okay, Danny. At least it wasn't a playoff game.

NBA admits Finley's shot too late
Finley shot gives ref sleepless night
By Mike Monroe
The NBA officially acknowledged Monday that Michael Finley's game-winning 3-point shot in the Spurs' 95-92 victory over the Kings on Sunday night should not have counted.
TV replays clearly showed that the ball was still in Finley's hands when the 24-second shot clock expired at ARCO Arena. However, referee Danny Crawford, standing behind Finley as he shot, ruled that the shot counted. Since 1.3 seconds remained on the game clock after Finley's shot went in, the referees were not permitted to review the play on a courtside TV monitor.
Replay can only be used to correct timing errors when the game clock reaches zero at the end of any quarter.
Ron Johnson, the NBA's vice-president of referee operations, said Crawford acknowledged the error on Monday.
"Yes, the referees did acknowledge in the post-game review that, in fact, they had missed a call," he said. "I can tell you the crew chief laid awake all night concerned about it, and that's just what they do."
Crawford, regarded as one of the NBA's best refs, was the crew chief.
The NBA's Board of Governors will be asked to consider amending the rules governing the use of replay when it meets on Thursday and Friday. NBA Commissioner David Stern said he did not know that the Board would want to apply a rules change that wold be in effect for this season's playoffs, which begin this weekend. However, he assured the issue would get a full venting before next season.
"It's always up to the Board to decide what they want to do," Stern said. "In the face of perhaps them doing nothing, it will be on the agenda, full-bore, fully briefed, for the October meetings prior to the 2009-10 season."
Its okay, Danny. At least it wasn't a playoff game.
I'd believe that.
Danny Crawford is a good ref, probobly the best in the game IMO.
Too bad Joey Crawford doesn't take tips from Danny Crawford.
It's obvious they are not related
For once the rules benefitted the Spurs, thus the rules have to be changed. LOL.
Yes, I was keenly aware of the irony of that. Why not change the rules to allow coaches one chance per game in the last 3 minutes of a game to ask for a review of a call or non-call?
With all the technology available, that would hardly waste much time and could really make a difference. Prime example, The no foul call on Fisher when he clearly fouled Barry. The NBA acknowledged that that was a blown call, so why didn't the board sit down and try to ins ute a rule that would allow plays like that to be reviewed by the refs if a coach asks for it? Didn't they think a playoff game in a WCF was important? Couldn't they come up with a rule that addressed those type of huge mistakes?
Sorry, but LMAO at Stern and the NBA Board trying to make things right now. They had all year to come up with some type of rule change regarding flagrant missed calls, and just sat on their asses.
as usual. we got this with the hack a shaq and with the players leaving their bench (against phoenix).
there are a lot of bad calls. but as soon as it helps the spurs, there a discussion about changing the rules
as if this game was so important anyway.....
anytime the Spurs benefit from something you bet your ass they will change a rule or review the rule with the "committee"
btw, did the Chris Paul (against the Spurs) incident get any coverage from anyone (blogs/ESPN/etc) about how the Spurs got screwed? It seems like people only give a when we get the benefit![]()
i remember the league acknowledging that fisher fouled barry
didnt make it any easier
luckily this is not playoffs and SAC didnt really care, well the fans didnt seem to
The guy sitting behind Bill Land and Sean Elliott would beg to differ with you. You could hear him screaming "The NBA is rigged! What a joke!" at the end of the game.
Hey, as a result of locking up the worst record in the NBA, Sacto has the best chance of landing the #1 pick in the draft. They should send Crawford a nice present, esp if they get it.
Not the refs fault. Especially that live it sounds like the buzzer goes off after finley released the shot. That's a flaw in the system that it cant be reviewed.
Did Sean make the trip?? thought it was Stars coach Dan Hughes with Bill Oh Mama Land.
But the Kings could had a chance at a postseason..![]()
i will totally give this back, if they give us 0.4 back.
One thing no one has mentioned is that the shot clock may have read "00", but the game and shot clock may not have been in sync. The play clock resets once the Spurs gain possession of the ball, right? Well, Beno shoots the ball at the :27 mark of the game and Kurt Thomas gets the rebound at :25. The shot clock should be reset at that point. Now click the youtube link below this "play by play" and go to the 1:55 mark of the video and it shows that Finley releases the ball with 3.0 seconds remaining. 24 + 3.0 = 27 which = the same time Beno shoots his 14 ft jumper.
0:27 92-92 Beno Udrih misses 14-foot jumper
0:25 Kurt Thomas defensive rebound 92-92
0:01 Michael Finley makes 25-foot three point jumper (Tony Parker assists) 95-92
0:01 Bruce Bowen enters the game for Kurt Thomas 95-92
0:01 Ime Udoka enters the game for Matt Bonner 95-92
0:01 95-92 Donte Greene enters the game for Jason Thompson
0:00 95-92 Andres Nocioni misses 24-foot three point jumper
0:00 End of the 4th Quarter
0:00 End Game

I'm just saying...........
Is the buzzer slaved to the clock so it sounds automatically or must a person activate it?
