The Cardinal's choke job this year was pretty epic. That soft zone coverage prevent D they had been getting burned by all year reared its ugly head on the Steeler's final drive because Clancy Pendergast is re ed.
The Drive was worse because it was in Cleveland, and because the Browns had that game won. It was like slow torture. Elway relentlessly and systematically took apart the dreams of an entire city in 15 agonizing plays, and he did it right in front of us. It was unbearable. Other than MJ, Elway was the most terrifying player in any sport to face if you were rooting for the other team. The man was capable of anything.

Coach Mike Brown announced at shootaround this morning that LeBron James, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Mo Williams, Joe Smith and Ben Wallace will sit out tonight regular season finale at Quicken Loans Arena against the Philadelphia 76ers, in order to rest before the start of this weekend's playoffs.
Wow, they're going to lose for sure then. Philly is actually playing for something, they better win without the entire Cavs team playing.
yeah right. The Indians had 4 Hall of Famers in their lineup, Murray, Winfield, Thome, and Ramirez- and Belle, Baerga, and Lofton were all All Stars in their Prime. It's proof that the Indians were better as they finished 10 games up on the Braves that year
Also, the 1995 Indians team ERA was 3.82, and the Braves was 3.44. So it's not like the Braves were that much better in pitching.
I agree that the Indians had great players and some Hall of Fame players but the Braves were the same. Are you going to tell me that Glavine, Smoltz, Maddux, and Jones are not Hall of Fame players?
Jones isn't making the HoF. His legacy is now tarnished. People were calling him borderline before his absolutely HORRIBLE 2007 and 2008. Now, no chance he gets in playing the way he is playing.
Okay, but what about Glavine, Maddux, and Smoltz?
I'm not saying the Braves sucked. I'm just saying that when a team goes 100-44, 1st in hitting and 2nd in pitching, losing in the World Series is a let down. They were the best team in baseball that year by 10 whole games.
In 1997 I think they were 4th or 5th best and choked in the World Series so it's a different kind of choke
If you're talking about Andruw Jones, you're right. But we're talking about Chipper who was a rookie that season. I think Chipper will make the HoF. Andruw probably won't.
Right. Baltimore was probably the best team in the regular season. Cleveland had a good team but weren't expected to beat Baltimore.
I think we're debating that Cleveland had the best offense that season. Obviously Atlanta had the better starting pitching, but that season Cleveland by far put up the best numbers. Growing up in Mississippi, I grew up a Braves fan and was terrified of the Indians offense. Atlanta had great players as well, especially the pitching and McGriff, Justice, Lopez, Klesko, Chipper as a rookie, and Grissom, but Cleveland had Lofton, Baerga, Belle, Thome, Manny, Sorrento/Winfield, and Murray.
SD knew the Cavs would bench their entire team...he's a in' genius!!
I went against the grain (ie, betting the opposite of SD's word) and bet heavy on the Cavs to lose tonight...
Chipper played pretty well the last 2 seasons. He's borderline for the HOF as it is.
If you're talking Andruw Jones, I don't know why you're even talking Andruw in the HOF. He never has been and never will be anything remotely resembling a Hall Of Fame baseball player. He was never borderline ever. He just isn't a good enough player.
This is the baseball Hall of Fame which is far different than football or basketball. Not every swingin gets voted in. If Andruw Jones ever got even mentioned as being a barely borderline HOF player, then Fred McGriff is gonna be really really pissed off. Because McGriff >>>>>>>>>>> Andruw Jones, and McGriff doesn't belong in the Hall Of Fame.
Hall of Famer or not, Chipper Jones will go down as a great player. And it doesn't matter if he has fallen off a bit recently. Besides, if he doesn't get into the HOF, he will probably get his number retired by the Braves.
Albert Belle should go to the HOF. I love that bas .
But he took a on the media so they'll never let him in.
Whoever started this thread was right, but only because the Cavs didn't care about this game.
