a glimpse of TD next job ?
"Coach" Duncan
by Bill Schoening
Tim Duncan appeared to take his role as assistant coach pretty seriously on Sunday night.
After being informed that he would be resting on the first night of a back to back, Duncan declined an offer to join the Spurs' television broadcast, as he told Bill Land, "I'm sorry, but I'll be too busy with my coaching responsibilities."
For the next several hours, Duncan joined the coaches huddle during timeouts, pulled players aside to give them tips and pointers, and was vocal on the bench. He was often the first person to greet players as they came off the floor, offering a pat on the head or a high five. After timeouts, he counseled players even more, just before they took the floor.

i hope so! it'd be awesome if he stepped into the coaching position for the spurs once he retires or when pop hangs it up.
Could you imagine Timmy coaching future Bigs for the Spurs? Nice.
This just shows what a truly great leader Timmy is.![]()
has he ever talked about being a coach once retired?
Dang, that would have been awesome if he was on the telecast.
Duncan as a color analyst wouldve been great to hear
He's mentioned it as a possibility.
I dont think Duncan will ever be a head coach in the league. But it would be great if he stuck around specifically as a Big-Man coach for the spurs.
Duncan's pregame interview Sunday night with Bill Land, thanks to timvp.

I don't know. Every other word being "ummm" would get tired pretty quick.
Hope so. It'd be great for him to become head coach one day. Hope he stands fast on thedefensive players, but tries for youth.
td might not have wanted to be on tv and basically came up with a good excuse
but I am glad he was one of the first to me the players that were playing
do you guys think Manu may play such role in the playoffs?
IDK if i can bear the sight of seeing Manu on the sidelines during a highly contested game...![]()
he'd have to wear suits all the time, doesn't he hate doing that?
![]()
TD would be a great coach. It would be great seeing his big-eyed "WTF" expression while he's chasing down the refs after ty calls.
is that a rule?
pop does not wear tie on road
A coach or assistant coach has to wear a sports coat, I believe. Most just wear ties, as well.
WTF is ok
just don't smile or laugh![]()

I just don't see Timmy coaching. I see him lying in a hammock under the coconut trees on a beach playing with his kids..
I also don't see Duncan coaching, other than coming in to coach future bigs..either for the Spurs, another team Pop coaches, or if his one of his former teammates asks him to..I don't see him actually taking a coaching job though..
Trust.... When he retires, he's gone!
