fail!
if Portland wins. Division only guarantees you the 1-4 spots right?
no...third seed is locked up.
I'm so happy with tonight's improbable victory that I'm not even looking that far ahead.
so we don't care about the blazers / nuggets result right ?
Bring it on, es! Your blue and green kryptonite awaits!
If Portland wins why wouldn't they get 3?? Don't they own the tiebreaker against us
This is the tie breaker rules:
Two-Team Tiebreaker
1. Division winner (this criterion is applied regardless of whether the tied teams are in the same division)
2. Better record in head-to-head games
3. Higher winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division)
4. Higher winning percentage in conference games
5. Higher winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference
6. Higher winning percentage against playoff teams in opposite conference
7. Higher point differential between points scored and points allowed
DUH!!! Thanks

(1) (a) Since the three division winners are guaranteed a spot in the top four
Where does it say division winners are guaranteed a top three seeding?
Mavs 1st round = slapped.
The Spurs have choke psychology on their side now
Time to elevate and dominate.
The Spurs are the SW Division Champs, so they automatically get one of the top 3 seeds...in this case, the 3rd seed. All the playoff matchups are now set. The only thing left to be decided is whether the Blazers will have HCA or not against the Rockets in the playoffs.
3rd is ours baby... and the Southwest!
Only in the case that you are tied with a non-division winner, otherwise you can finish 3rd.
Nah, that hasn't been the rule since '06. Winning a division is the first tie-breaker.
Maybe.
Did anyone get the answer to whether that Division Champ tiebreaker carries through to later rounds?
In other words, if the Spurs play Portland in the 2d round (and are tied recordwise) who gets the HCA? The Spurs because they won the Div. Championship? Or Portland because they won the season series with SA?
Well it wouldn't be the 2nd round. Portland-SA can't meet til the WCF.
Yep, guess I've had Portland on the brain lately. And since Portland would likely have to beat the Lakers for that question to be answered, it may never be.
lakers are going to have their work cut out for them against blazers
they can not win in portland
