Spurs 4 wins (TP 33ppg)
Mavs 2 (Dirk&JJBarea 50ppg)
This is obviously going to be a tough matchup. The thing Im extremely happy about is stupid cuban traded Devin Harris which would gives us TONS of problems. Without him I think we can take it in 6 even without ginobili. But I also think the mavs could def win the series if they come out and play well. Should be interesting hopefully parker just lives in the paint.

Respectfully disagree. Josh Howard's health is in question and the Spurs have multiple options for Terry. The Spurs will have to work, but we all know in close games, especially in close playoff games, the Spurs have a mental toughness the mavs just don't have. The series won't be a cakewalk, but that doesn't mean the Spurs can't finish the mavs off in 5. Next round, Spurs have problems. But they can handle the mavs.
I'm watching NBA tv - and Steve Smith says he gives the edge to the Spurs. Of course, he's a former Spur - but he still made some good points.
He said it will be an easier series for Duncan because he won't get beat up so bad and he won't have a real hard defensive assignment because Dampier isn't that much of an offensive threat. He also said the Spurs have eliminated the Mavs so many times that the psychological edge goes to the Spurs.
I really like the fact that we won't have long travel times or have to change time zones during this 1st round.
I got the Spurs but this will be tough! Great rivalry. Think of us against Portland on the road though, is that any better?
How'd they lose in 2006?
With lots of help from the refs and a really crappy foul in the last seconds of game 7.
Defense will be a lot trouble. I don't think we can defend Dirk, Jet, JJ at the same time, although vice versa.
All...two times the Spurs have eliminated the Mavs, both of which were over six years ago?
There are some good arguments out there as to why the Spurs win this series, but "The Spurs have eliminated the Mavs so many times" is not one of them.
Blaming the refs. Nice. You stay classy, San Antonio.![]()
Sup bro. Looking forward to a great series. Good luck to you (that's you personally, since you are 100% class).
They lost some close ones in that series. And ever since that series dallas has proven to be anything but mentally tough in the playoffs.
Agreed. Both teams have changed for the better and worse. Comes down to matchups and who wants it more.
We'll agree here. Blaming the refs is lame. The mavs won that series.
Portland could beat LA for us...
This guy gets it.
The Mavs were the one first round opponent I wanted the Spurs to avoid at all costs![]()
Good to see you back on here man.
This is gonna be an intense series for sure. Dallas is on a roll so this series is definitely going 6 at the very least.
Good luck to you as well![]()
me too but to stay positive HCA no travels no jet lag
me too timvp, but the way portland is playing i really dont want any part of them especially without home court.
the mavs dont match up that well compared to how they matched up in 06.
It's going to be too intense. I've got a lot of stuff I need to do over the next couple weeks, and the pre-game, during-game, and post-game nerves are going to totally mess that all up. Sigh.![]()
This is absolutely right, but that's also somewhat mitigated by the fact that the Spurs aren't as good as they were back then, either. Plus, no Manu.
Overall, I think we'll find that the matchup overall is just as contentious. The Spurs may win it this time around, but I think the teams relative to each other are fairly close to 2006.
