in the playoffs during his career..

my calculations might be off, but I've seen these before, so they're similar..

27.6 PPG, 55.7% from the field, 14.6 RPG, 4.4 APG, 2.5 BPG in 18 career playoff games against the Mavs..

one of these series' includes the 7-gamer in 2006 where he was playing with plantar fasciiatis and struggled throughout the regular season..

    just saying..

Duncan is a great player when it counts, but you are on the Josh Howard stuff if you think that playoff averages including the 2003 and 2001 playoffs mean jack.

he looks good enough physically since he made the comments that he's been feeling better..

he's going to be playing against scrubs like Erika Dampier, Ryan Hollins, and the offensive Brandon Bass..I don't count Dirk for obvious reasons..

Duncan's numbers would look better if he didn't blow 2 point blank layups in game 7.

and who's Dirk going up againt? A ginger who can barely run, a 37 year old guy who doesn't even get to play anymore, some ing who thought it would be cool to grow a patch of hair on the back of his head, and some guy who's knees are falling off.

    Dirk's numbers will dwarf duncan's.

It looks like the opportunity is there for Timmy to have a dominant series. Let's hope he can stay aggressive and take advantage of the long delays between games.

Has a much better chance than Duncan does of guarding Dirk.

Without Diop, Duncan can get more room and Mavs will certainly double him.

the problem with Dirk is that we have Gooden..obviously Gooden is going to get killed by Dirk, but Gooden will completely on Dirk offensively..Nowitzki will be exhausted if he actually tries to play D, or he'll pick up fouls..

Duncan doesn't have to play D, since he'll be guarding Dampier..if Bass is in, then Dallas will have absolutely no interior D..

Also the spurs have no answer at all for Smokey. Nightmare matchup for any old asshole wing player on the spurs.

Agreed. With Dampier playing, TD can sit in the paint and guard the rim. Dallas' best shot is to play Dirk at the 5 to draw Timmy out.

Duncan will post Dirk down to the ground.

You really think Dirk out of all people can guard Duncan. Duncan will power his way through.

BTW Parker will have a huge series against Kidd. It's like the Spurs are playing 5 on 4. Devin Harris could keep up with Tony, but no way can Kidd stay with Parker. Parker schooled a prime Jason Kidd in the 2003 finals..

Least we forget Dirk's playoff struggles the past 2 seasons vs Warriors and Hornets.

Well, if Duncan can still manage a 20-19 game with his knees rotting off then he could be an even bigger monster if his health continues to improve.

You have no answer for interior D and we have no answer for the wing match up.

Dirk had a good series against the Hornets. Terry and Pot head were non-existent.
