A lot of "what ifs" left for Suns fans to think about. Porter, Amare's injury, Bell/Diaw trade, games lost on last-second shots.
...the Suns would be in the playoffs.
Utah 48-34
Phoenix 46-36
If the Suns had held on in Utah, in that game that they had won...it would be:
Utah 47-35
Phoenix 47-35
Suns would have won the season series 3-1 and had the tiebreaker, and would be in the playoffs.
Painful.

If the Hornets weren't lucky, they'd finish 9th.
Utah should just forfeit and give their spot to the Suns. At least the Suns would give some sort of fight. The Jazz are going to get whitewashed unless Boozer retires before the start of the series.
If wishes were horses, boutons would be eating steak.
No reason the Suns should have lost that game. Suns should be in the playoffs. Shaq would have gone completely ape on Bynum and Gasol too, probably would have been a good series.
I guarantee you every game will be close, and the Jazz will win at least one and probably two games. Stop being so down, the Lakers aren't as good as everyone likes to think they are. They're the better team but it's not going to be a sweep where the Lakers win every game by 30.
If and's, if's and but's were candy and nuts then we'd all have a Merry Christmas!
Maybe if we have a complete and total 100% reversal of fortunes and play our absolute best, we manage to steal a game.
As it is our coach and players all hate one another. This goes deeper than a talent issue. Deron's on the record as saying he's going to try to do it himself, which means he's more or less written off his teammates. Which is cool, they deserve to be written off. But I doubt Deron averaging 40 and 15 is going to do for us as long as everyone else is not trying/giving up 130 ppg. This team is dead in the water.
you should be glad the suns didn't make it.
they would just get bounced in the 1st round again.
but now you have a (long) shot at blake griffin.
Why is this??? Are Boozer and Okur already sure they're leaving, so they just doesn't give a ?? I mean it was only like a month ago the Jazz were on a 12 game win streak and everyone was talking about them as the biggest threat to the Lakers. It's hard to believe things have fallen apart this quickly.
and if Sarver wasnt the owner and Kerr wasnt the GM the Suns would be a whole lot better
Who knows? But ers aren't being professional. It came out that Sloan just went absolutely nuts in the locker room during halftime of the blowout loss to a 7 man deep Warriors team and now he's more or less given up.
I don't know if they're planning on opting out, but besides a handful of scrubs and Deron, dudes just aren't trying anymore. It defies logic.
Nobody knows the specifics of what's going on in the locker room since Boozer came back, but their chemistry/play has clearly been going down hill ever since he suited up. Exponentially.I mean it was only like a month ago the Jazz were on a 12 game win streak and everyone was talking about them as the biggest threat to the Lakers
If shaq had shown a stronger appe e for a buy-out, steve kerr would have bought him out and released him to Dallas, then our boys in blue would have become the no.1 favourite contender in the west or even the whole league. It's an open secret that Shaq has been wishing to join the big D for quite a long while, I think it wouldn't cost more than a minimum level to sign him.
A person can wish all they want, but it was a sheer lack of effort closing out the season I saw as the reason they missed the playoffs. They lost about 5 very winnable games towards the end.
cleveland at home (with lebrons 'block' of richardson)
utah on the road coughing up a late lead
2 games vs dallas
sacramento, wtf?
Perhaps part of this is the coaching change and trades, but I saw a bunch of 'I don't give a damn players on a I don't give a damn team'. Bonus points for figuring where I stole that quote from.
KSEAL - you obviously haven't been keeping up with the Jazz and are basing your thoughts off last season. You should go study up.
It will take a lot for Utah not to get swept in this series.
I agree that Phoenix would have been a tougher draw.
I hate mormons, what can I say. The still think the Lakers are getting too much love in the series. Utah is a great home team no matter what has happened lately. They'll be up for it when they get back to Utah and the refs will help out. They'll win a game and I think could even win two. The Lakers and Kobe are always talking about this "next gear" . I'm really looking forward to seeing it cause Kobe has been off for a while now and who knows how Drew is going to react to the playoffs. As good as the Lakers are I think they're overrated.
OMG! I remember that play. Hill is still kicking himself in the ass for that boneheaded mistake. He just wasn't ready or expecting the ball which he should have been.![]()
boozer looked totally disinterested. It was disgusting to see. But the silver lining is Okur wasnt playing. Im sure Okur will be more into games. They should just play boozer spot minutes. Also Milsap needs to get back his mojo. And AK should quit missing easy layups.
i genuinely honestly felt bad for deron that day against the lakers. He was the only jazz player wiht the talent and heart to try and make it a compe ion.
If Phoenix wins that game, perhaps Utah has more desperation to win those games against Minnesota and/or Golden State and they just earn that playoff spot later.
They didn't have enough motivation to win those games to get out of the 8 seed? I'm pretty sure the last thing they wanted was the Lakers in the first round and all they had to do is win one of those games and they couldn't do it.
This is very true...but we did the same thing two years ago when we clinched a playoff spot. We limped into the playoffs and made it to the WCF. This team has a "turn it on come playoff time" mentality. Until they decide to take the regular season seriously, we won't sniff the Finals.
Doesn't matter...neither team has a chance against the Lakers. At least this way, you get to rest your aging stars (Shaq and Nash) a little more and you get a higher lotto pick.
