Jim!!!
I think Pop deserves some serious consideration here. Given the key injuries during the regular season, the addition of 3 new key players, players that were not even on anyones radar for being championship worthy, I think it was a miracle for the Spurs to still win division this year.
Rick Adelman in Houston also deserves props as well, and of course Mike Brown in Cleveland, and Phill of course.
My order is :
Brown
Pop
Adelman
Jackson

while it was premature, I think I was fairly spot on. Pop was nowhere near perfect but with what he had to deal with, in hindsight I'm a little angry at myself for being hard on him this season.
Funny, I feel I wasn't hard on him enough.

I think I'd go Adelman as COY. Thing is, Pop has some certifiable gamebreakers on his team, while Adelman had T-Mac (sucked it up when playing, then went down for the year), injuries to Battier and Artest, a player get shot (Carl Landry), and still managed to finish within an insane Michael Finley jumper of the division le and the 2-seed (following Denver's loss).
I can't give Mike Brown COY with his "do whatever you want, Lebron" offense.
why Phil?
Yeah, my vote is for Adelman as well. To get that much done with a team that essentially never had a set rotation because of so many injuries is impressive.
if it was for the first half of the season, pop would win hands down.
Jim...you've been missing? Hadn't even noticed...
By the way...I thought you were being "coy" in this thread.![]()
Because he never wins it....throw him a bone.
Hey Guys...
How about a vote for Nate Mcmillan at Portland. He took the youngest team in the league and turned it into a 54 game winner. They're playing their best right now 13-3 in the last 16 games and look scary at home. My vote goes to Nate....
If you are talking about Larry then I agree, but if you're talking about that Cleveland guy then no. And IMO Addleman shouldn't be in the contention either, the offense he tries to use with the Rockets doesn't fit them and the fact that he lets Artest play Lebron like on offense is ridiculous. And regarding Pop I also disagree, I don't like the way he handle Hill and Bowen.
I said the same a few days ago. Where is the love for Nate?
He probably has the most talented 10 man deep team in the NBA, outside of LA. , I could coach that team to 54 wins.
Pop>>>>>Nate.
Pop may not even belong in the top 10.
Most dont want to be COY anyway, 2 of last 3 COYs were fired the next season![]()
Word, short of Philip...GREAT list.
Finley's post-shotclock shot certainly was a miracle...
Agreed. If it weren't for the entire second half of the year, I'd put Pop in the running.
Ooof. That is a very talented team, but very young. He has done a good job keeping them focused and improving.
