as far as hatred between fans and cities goes? I'd say mavs, suns, lakers and hornets are all near the top, and personally I'd put them in that order. Having a bag roommate from Mansfield "loves" the mavs and can only name three of their players (brandon brass is apparently a keeper) fuels a lot of that hate so i'm not very impartial.
For the team themselves, I'd go lakers, mavs, hornets, suns. Because the suns aren't really compe ion anymore and have moved into the pity stage. You can tell the Spurs players absolutely hate losing to any of those teams.
sorry but the Lakers are not our rivals, they have owned the Spurs this decade
There is a big difference between rival and … suns qualify for the second…. To me…Lakers are the only real rival in that list.

Fans treat rivalries like flavors of the month, This year its the lakers, last couple the Suns,
...but the Mavs year in and year out our our main rival.
Where were you in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2007?
Mavs put up a great fight in 2006, and the Suns have certainly been pesky.
But 7 of the past 10 championships have gone between San Antonio and LA, with them having squared off five times, and each victor earning a Finals trip. That's what I call a rivalry.
Nothing more to say.
@ the Mavs being rivals….. there is probably (just probably) a regional rivalry…. but after all, Mavs and Spurs belong to different categories… Spurs= proven champs/elite Mavs=wannabe/failure.

i picked rockets... call me crazy. the lakers and mavs are made out to be the spurs biggest rivals by the nba media but the truth is that the spurs have kinda been no match for the lakers for most of the past 10 years and the other than 2006, the mavs haven't been much of a problem for the spurs.
i picked the rockets because when these two play each other, it seems like most every game is close and the records against each other are probably close to even.

I didn't mean to imply that the lakers are not a rival to us, of course they are. They have been our biggest rival over the last 8 years. I just consider the Mavs our MAIN rival because of the division, Cuban, and general dislike between the fans regionally.

Yeah right! They were nothing in between 2005-2007, missing the playoffs, losing to Suns, mediocre team.
Los Angeles last won the NBA le in 2002. Spurs have won it 3 times since!
right, but when the spurs have played the lakers, often times it wasn't very pretty
Let's put it this way: The Duncan's led Spurs have only lost playoffs series to the Lakers. And once, to the Mavs. That's it. So Lakers go in the forefront, with the Mavs on a distant second place.
The Lakers are our rivals.... the mavs are more like our red headed step brother
