It's not forgotten, but I'm sure you're familiar with the rule that if an individual had one drop of black ancestry, he was considered black?

Due to this rule and other cultural effects, it is common to consider a half-black person "black". Heck, if you want, call him mulatto, though I believe that's offensive to some. One way or another, he's not 100% white.

In fact, you could even consider writing a best-selling book as "doing something". Or making a few millions as "achieving something". Or becoming a United States Senator. Or any number of things he's done.
