If Popovich is dead set on playing this guy, why not start him at the 3 and slide Finley to the 2? We could start Duncan alongside Gooden and any rebounds Bonner gives us would be gravy at this point considering Finley didn't give us that many anyway. Considering the majority of Finley's offense consisted of waiting at the 3pt line for Parker penetrations and Duncan double teams to open up shots for him, Bonner could be just as effective. I think having 2 post up players would open up his opportunities even more, especially if Gooden is being guarded by Dirk.

I know most will say he would be torched on the defensive end but would he really be that much worse than Finley guarding Howard? If Bonner pressed Howard and the team brought help on his penetrations from either Duncan or Gooden, it would still leave us with 1 rebounder in the paint to help corral the boards. I really think his size could have an effect on Howard's jumpers and I would love to see Kidd's man be the one to help on Howard's penetrations, forcing the Mavs to rely on him shooting lights out to beat the Spurs.

I know none of this will probably happen but I really think, if Bonner has to garner minutes, this would be the best course of action.

it's decent at first, then they run some pick and rolls or Howard off some screens and Bonner gets exposed even worse.

Switch the screens and tell Bonner to sag into the paint to help Gooden and Duncan with the boards. I would even settle for Finley or Parker to trap the pick and roll and make Kidd beat you from the outside. Eventually, Carlisle would adjust by running Terry in Kidd's spot but it would at least force them to make a change.

Pop probably hasn't even practiced, much less actually fielded, a big lineup like that but a handful of times this year, if that. Its perhaps a viable option, but not one I'd start the game with.

BONNER, the best strategy for him, is to foul out as quick as possible, than we don't have to see his punk ass for the rest of the game.

Bonner was defending in the post and just set his feet. A post player is supposed to have to go around you rather than just dislodge you with his size. The only thing Bonner did wrong was to think he was EVER going to get a whistle in his favor.

I'm sorry. Bonner simply has no business on the court in this series. He's proven to be a liability against superior compe ion - dating back to last year versus the Fakers in the WCF. He cannot be counted on to knock down shots consistently and, while he tries hard, his foot speed and defense are atrocious. He needs to sit.

Bonner played 18 worthless minutes tonight. Also, why in the world did Pop decide to rest Finley when he did? Finley was one of the few players doing anything decent.

I saw too much of the same stuff from the Spurs tonight. They need to change it up a little. More movement on offense. There were guys open tonight that didn't get the ball, and I saw alot of forced shots. They had the game in the bag and they messed it up.

We can't beat the Mavs as long as Carlisle puts this lineup on the floor:

    Terry
    Barea
    Howard
    Dirk
    Bonner

Benching Bonner would be my first option but, if Pop must have Bonner on the floor, this was my best suggestion...

    Matt Bonner, its playoff time.

When you allow Eric Dampier to go 1 on 1 and make a play, then its time to go a different direction.
