Props to Bonner today.
He missed some shots, he made some shots but he was there FIGHTING every minute. That's what I want to see. Go there and play hard and not scared like the game 1
All that moaning and groaning about bonner from the few of us can be put to rest. Good Game Matt!
Props to Bonner today.

jesus you guys are bipolar. his first real playoff minutes in a close game, he does halfway bad and everyone s on him. he immediately comes out and plays a great game on both ends.
good call guys![]()
all we can ask for is toughness and energy..he provided that tonight..
I got the llaves beeshes
Where the were you after game 1?? I don't remember you sticking
up for his ass.
Oh yeah it's easy to defend him after his mediocre performance, but he's a horrible
rebounder and horrible defender.
i know you're not talking to me. i stuck up for him in timvp's official gamethoughts thread quite a bit after the game and in a couple other threads as well.
Sticking up for Bonner after game one is about as stupid as dogging him after tonight. He was a different player tonight in every respect.
Great game boner but the playoffs is about consitency.
It's not a matter of "making up" for anything, it's a matter of going out every game and playing hard. He did exactly that tonight, and he wasn't the only one. He didn't do that in game one, and he wasn't the only one. Once it's in the books it doesn't mean anything because you can't do anything to change it. Game three is all that matters now.
I don't remember talking to you directly you insecure bas !
And you can quote me on that one..
considering i was the only one halfway defending him, thanks for that.
what's stupider than that? hating on him one game, then acting like you can judge someone for defending him, yet yourself prop him now because he had a good effort.
I can't wait for his next big game so all the haters can officially be labeled's. Nothing like calling out a player and he completely owning all of you the very next game.
bonner actually contributed tonight but still like Thomas, and Gooden in there...they are more of a force.
Please don't bold words you can't spell.
i don't care bro. love him or hate him. just don't call for his head in his first real playoff series, in his first real role, in his first real minutes that mean something. He proved tonight he can be effective on both ends, but he's just a limited roleplayer. You're wasting your time hating him, his effect on the spurs can be overshadowed by others stepping up easily.
its just stupid to make thread after thread, post after post hating on a guy whose giving his all.
Crap, I agree with sequ's post AND his reasoning?!?!?!? The end is ing nigh, es.
I ain't giving that stiff any props. He played like a turd in game 1. But really, I don't hate Bonner, I hate stupid Pop for playing him so much instead of Gooden.
Criticizing his performance and effort does not equal "hating", nor does simply making the observation that he was playing terrible basketball for the last few games of the season and the first game of the postseason. I'm unsure how pointing out how good his game was tonight is "propping", or exactly what that means. If my opinion on a guy's performance completely unweighted by anything other than his play on the floor isn't satisfactory for you, then maybe you're the one in the wrong place, not me.
People who blindly defend a player are morons, and people who hope for a player they dislike to have a bad game aren't Spurs fans. If you don't want to be called stupid, stop acting stupid. Bragging about how you defended him after he played horribly might win you some points with Matt's mom, but around here you're going to be laughed at.
Bonner came through, so ultimately it was a good decision. Bonner was very effective, and so was Gooden. To be honest, Gooden had a number of defensive mistakes but his hustle was very good. I have no problem seeing Gooden start to earn minutes from Bonner if/as he develops, but I also don't have any problem with Matt getting the same minutes if he works as hard as he did tonight.
I know I'll catch for this, but Bonner was average. Hear me out - he had a good game for his ability, but at the end of the day he was average for his role in our offense. In a better perspective, he was 3 of 9 for 11 points and 7 rebounds in 29 minutes. Gooden had 13 pts and 3 rebounds in 18 minutes. Stats are stats and Matt hit a couple of good 3's, but let's be honest - will his stats really improve as the series goes on? I'm no longer going to try and second guess Pop as he came out with a great game plan, but I still think it's obvious that more Gooden minutes (if he's not hurt) and less Bonner minutes is a logical plus.
Well, yeah of course. If Bonner plays well, he should get minutes. But when he's SUCKING (a la game 1), he should be on the bench.
WIth the way they both played last night, there is no discernable reason for Bonner getting 10 more minutes.
Who would bring up his first few games back in the active rotation at this point in time, but a hater? I'm sorry, but the question begs to be answered. Secondly, I was called out or so i believed, by another poster. Have I no right to answer his message? That's not bragging oncesoever.
you can prop a player up, or you can hate on him ... there's different terminologies. I prefer propping as the verb form of 'giving props'.I'm unsure how pointing out how good his game was tonight is "propping", or exactly what that means.
Your comment about me being stupid was what I found 'unsatisfactory,' so stop playing the fool. You calling me stupid for defending him is the same as me calling you out for not giving him more chances, perhaps you're in the wrong place as well?If my opinion on a guy's performance completely unweighted by anything other than his play on the floor isn't satisfactory for you, then maybe you're the one in the wrong place, not me.
Agreed. I conceded immediately in my initial postings that Matt had a bad game 1. From that point on, I simply defended him from those calling out his role on the team - not those critiquing his play of the night, which again, I conceded. Give the man some chances, he could be a big time help like he was tonight. He gave Dirk nothing easy and contested everything, he rebounded well and battled inside, got some hands in on loose balls, just a very solid game.People who blindly defend a player are morons, and people who hope for a player they dislike to have a bad game aren't Spurs fans.
Stupid is in the eye of the beholder - AFAIC, you're the one being stupid by judging me on my posting while not expecting the same for himself. One compiles a mental list of every weakness Matt possesses for a single game's performance, then immediately props that same player for "a completely different performance" afterwards. THAT'S stupid. Why? Because its the same Matt Bonner you just hated on, doing the exact opposite and doing it well. Stick it out during the good times and bad, or at least keep your facts straight and realize he has a limited role which could not have costed the Spurs Game 1.If you don't want to be called stupid, stop acting stupid.
It's only bragging to those who savagely attacked him, and are now feeling guilty for being so harsh on him. For me, its just continuing to support a limited player in pushing the Spurs team to the top.Bragging about how you defended him after he played horribly might win you some points with Matt's mom, but around here you're going to be laughed at.
