My nephew who is a senior in high school wants to become a sports agent. He knows about the compe ion in this field but it doesn't seem to bother him. He has a 3.0, anyone know some good schools with good sports management programs he can get into? Also anyone here going to school for sports management?

I'll ask my cousin. She's the marketing agent for Gilbert Arenas.

I'm just talking out of my ass here, but I'd assume most agents are either law or business school graduates. And I suppose a sports management bachelor's wouldn't hurt, but it would be nothing else than a stepping stone to grad school. So for a B.S. or B.A. it might be best to focus on something more conducive to getting into a law or MBA program instead.

I think that's generally correct. Almost all of the big agents across all of the major sports have law degrees:

Tom Condon (football) - J.D., University of Baltimore School of Law
Drew Rosenhaus (football) - J.D., Duke University School of Law
Leigh Steinberg (football) - J.D., University of California, Boalt Hall
David Falk (basketball) - J.D., George Washington Univ. School of Law
Rob Pelinka (basketball) - J.D., University of Michigan School of Law
Arn Tellem (basketball) - J.D., University of Michigan School of Law
Scott Boras (baseball) - J.D., University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law

Law degrees are pretty popular in politics as well.

i dunno..all you said is "sports agent"....she is not his Agent that gets the NBA deals, but she is the Marketing Agent...She's the one that does the shoe deals etc. A step in the right direction IMO. I'll see her tonight and ask what she studied at USC.
