The guy sucks. Stop tooting his horn. He couldn't hit the side of a barn if he wanted. Regular season games are over, and he hasn't helped the Spurs at all.Just as I said weeks ago, Bonner is mentally weak and will never be a clutch player ever. He continues to prove me right.

The Spurs brought him here to spread the floor and hit threes. He's done nothing but suck all playoff long. What a joke. He should be on the bench and never starting. He proved all series long where he belongs. Can't wait to see him out of a Spurs uniform. Okay Zosa's now's your chance to come and defend the Rocket.

Well, it's easy to rag on Bonner these days. So I'll go ahead and do it too.
I said this guy was no NBA starter material. Still boggles the mind Pops throttles him out there to start every game.
He's been a defensive liability all year long. He could score 50 points next game, and he would still be unable to redeem himself for the crap he brings on the defensive end.
I know, I know, he had a great game against the Celtics in January...

Regardless of how absent Bonner has been offensively, he's still not the worst starter or defender on the Spurs. In fact, he did a good job staying in front of players most of the time out on the perimeter, including Speedy Gonzalez, which is surprising.

Bonner needs a nut check. He needs toughness. He needs some calm. He'll have a huge game 5. 100% sure. 50% guaranteed.

    Give me a break.
How can you possibly defend him after watching him play this whole series?
The guy was pathetic as were many of the bench players. He easily ranks among one of the worst starters to ever wear a Spur uniform. Yeah, great, let's wait until game 5 for him to show up! Can't wait

WTF is wrong with you? Bonner may be the worst defender ever in the NBA. He cant defend anyone. Have you watch this year as everyone and I mean everyone goes to the hole on us? Thats cause they know all that is there to stop a bucket is Bonner. The guy has arms of someone 6-3. He has a 24inch vertical, and is a piss poor rebounder.....which is all about heart...(see 6-4 Barkley a great rebounder).

You just see effort being the same as effectiveness. Never confuse activity with accomplishment.
I never said Bonner was a great defender. I said he's not the worst defender on this Spurs team, which is correct. Watch the games, and pay attention to something other than the bouncing, leather thing. We all know he's not athletic, but he's not a turnstile like some others. If he were tougher, it would improve his game in certain ways, including defense and rebounding.

    Give me a break.

I agree he has been really bad offensively and on the boards, and he's not a shutdown defender. The way he's playing, he shouldn't be starting either, along with Finley. But he's not THE problem with this team, as some people want to make it seem.

And Robert Horry couldn't have provided more than that?????????

I still think if the Spurs had Horry on the bench we'd be better off.

Horry or Barry should have come back instead of Finley. Michael has run out of gas again and basically done nothing in the playoffs like that season. Horry overall had bigger games that Michael is last season's playoffs.

    SATURDAY'S WORST
Matt Bonner, Spurs: The Granite State's foremost baller accepts this award on behalf of all Spurs without the initials TD or TP who combined to shoot 6-for-28 in the loss to Dallas.

Wow-what a huge disappointment. I said it then, and I'll say it again Bonner is a mentally weak player who will never be clutch. Bonner deserves to come off from the bench- he has no business playing in the starting line-up. I'll be relieved to see him out of a Spur uniform.

Personally, I can deal with the iffy shooting. It happens. It's the rebounding that I don't understand. You can't be that big and not rebound. If he could've gotten 10 rebounds in those 22 mins, even without scoring a point, that would've made a difference.

Still laughing at all the Bonner threads I saw this season. Its funny watching him guard Dirk. He looks like a horny chihuahua humping his masters leg. Just drop the loser. Move on.

Yes, rebounding at least would have been nice. We needed substantial contributions from Bonner and the rest of the team.

you're incredibly stupid, and a straight up hater - that article gave the award to matt bonner in lieu of everyone sucking you re . he played decent defense. They have made it a POINT OF EMPHASIS to not leave him open.

If we ever meet at a GTG, i will pick your weak ass arguments apart like nothing. here, you're just a pathetic troll. All you will do here is say "see i told you so" when you obviously don't have an ounce of understanding about how they're defending him and others - which is why you'll notice GHill got playing time and was WIDE OPEN IN CRUNCHTIME. Pop was forced to play him to see if they'd give him breathing room unlike our other shooters and they did, but I won't confuse a dumb like yourself with facts. The added bonus was, like everyone predicted (except probably you, you just agree with others and never put forht a real opinion bandwagoner), he shut down Terry with those long arms and youthful speed.

THEY'RE NOT GIVING SHOOTERS SPACE, THEYRE DEMANDING THEY PUT THE BALL ON THE FLOOR AND GET TO THE HOLE, dumbass.

MASON CAN'T DO IT, FINLEY CAN'T DO IT, BONNER CAN'T DO IT. ITS A PART OF DALLAS' GAMEPLAN.

You'd think even the re ed spursfans could see that Bonner is being basically face guarded so he gets no open looks (he didn't even get 1 clean look all game, and its somehow his fault for that? Pop no doubt told him to shoot as the game was going down the stretch, even over defenders, because he hadn't even taken a shot - nothing came to him in the flow of the offense, not more than a quarter of the space he's used to)

What's the excuse for his constant lack of rebounding? He's not tall enough? He's not out there to do that? He's not paid enough?

Alright I'll give you the whole he's got no room to shoot...he's only good at WIDE OPEN looks...but that gives him NO excuse for his extremely piss poor defense...he's big...slow...and basically DUMB when it comes to guarding people...I swear the guys basically does nothing but force his opponent to one side and calmly and gently escorts them straight to the basket...
