Tim Duncan Day proclaimed in USVI
ST THOMAS, USVI -- Governor John de Jongh has proclaimed April 25, 2009, as “Timothy Theodore Duncan Day” in the US Virgin Islands. World famous basketball player Timothy Theodore Duncan was born on the island of St Croix to the late William and Delysia Duncan.
He received his early education at St Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from St Dunstan’s Episcopal School on St Croix in 1993. Duncan attended Wake Forest University in North Carolina graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in May 1997. In 1994, the Legislature of the US Virgin Islands honored Duncan for his outstanding performance on the Wake Forest Basketball Team. Then in 1996, he was honored once again when the St Croix Educational Complex Gymnasium was named in his honor.
US Virgin Islanders are excited about Duncan’s accomplishments, which have placed the Territory in the limelight with his outstanding national basketball performances with the San Antonio Spurs.
By opting to finish his college education instead of joining the National Basketball Association draft in his senior year of college, Duncan has set an example for all young people to emulate and gives Virgin Islanders a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Duncan’s college jersey was retired at the last 1997 home game of the Demon Deacons as a tribute to Tim’s remarkable performance during his entire college career.
In March 1997, the Virgin Islands Medal of Honor was bestowed on this St Croix native and All-American center for his outstanding performances as an athlete and a scholar as well as for the honor he has brought the Territory, especially St Croix.
Timothy Theodore Duncan continues his outstanding performance with the San Antonio Spurs.

That's great for Timmy well deserved. Germany might do the same thing for Nowitzki if they beat the Spurs in the playoff because that's the only thing he can accomplish
