Well it would be possible we go into tax land a bit, but its now or never for the spurs. Manu is off limits, the trade would envolve BOWEN, BONNER, OBERTO, THOMAS.....AND you could take your pick Mason, or sign and trade with JV or Udoka who would sign a deal and have a low buy out. Depending on the contracts we used we may not need jv or udoka to help out.
I worked the numbers and it works cap wise, but if we use the full MLE we would slightly go into tax range. Roster fillers would be gist, and our second rounders this year or vet mins for guys like Williams and Hairston. Its similar to the deal we almost made with them before the deadline.
Other options would be going after Maggette who Nellie wants to dump....hes on the books for 8 mil so his salary is much easier to absorb. Then look to grab Carney, Green Wallace, Rasho, RObert Swift, Chris Anderson.....guys that can do what we need and shouldnt cost an arm and a leg. This deal would keep us under the tax limit. Several teams are looking to dump stars with long deals for expiring contracts so the Spurs could be in a great spot if we are willing to take on the money to win.
