The Nuggets are too undersized in the frontcourt and have no one to guard Kobe. This "might" go 6, but if I was a betting man I'd say LA in 5
The Nuggets are playing with more ocnfidence than ever; they are more consistent that ever.
I think they will lose to the Lakers in 6 or 7 games in the WCF, with 1 or 2 controversial games.
Let's compare them with the Kings:
- In 2001, the Kings had offensive talent but lost to L.A in 4.
- In 2008 . the Nuggets had offensive talent but lost to L.A in 4.
- In 2002, Kings replaced the talented but inconsistent Williams with the more steadier and clutch Bibby
- In 2009, the Nuggets have done the same with Iverson and Billups
Also, this year's Nuggets play a little more defense and are more physical.
However, unlike the Kings in 2002, they won't have HCA and that will be a big factor.
That, Stern, and Dontae Jones probably pissing Kobe off.

But Billups is both battle tested and has the Nuggets playing an Eastern Conference style basketball. Billups is also a better defender than Bibby... He can actualy be effective against Kobe.
I called it b4 the playoffs started: Cavs over Denver in 6.
Denver kind of went under the radar this year like NO last year, but are almost the real deal outside of not having a solid defense. (but I think Denver will continue to deliver next year unlike NO) But yeah, I agree, I think it will be a drawn out series with a foregone conclusion.
We shall see, DEN has been playing out of their minds lately. Anything can happen, it's the playoffs.
Though I can't say I'm terribly afraid of DEN.
If Bynum is NOT healthy....Nuggets will force it 7 games....
If Lakers and Nuggetz meet in the WCF, expect JR Smith to come up with some dumb bonehead plays.
Smith is talented, but he can be quite a choker
Lakers and Nuggets have pathetic team defense. But they both have an explosive offense....If anyone has a LEGIT chance at going 7 games with L.A its the Nuggets....
Billups is the Lakers Killer......![]()
Game 1 Prediction:
Lakers 163
Denver 154
Denver will give them a good series, but LA in 6.
do not compare today's scrub teams LA/Denver to the bad ass teams of 2002
first of all, Bynum, he has done all in the playoffs, have you heard him in interviews? "ah, umm, argh" a en idiot.
this Nuggets team couldn't hold the 02 Kings jock
billups is the lone man in a team full of boys
two words .... george karl
Well, the Kings used to be beasts. Denver, however, gets to go against a washed up Kings player in the first round.
+1.5
That and the Kings were the better team in that WCF. L.A. didn't win that series as much as Sacramento lost it.
This thread brings the lulz
for the record, i dont think that series was fixed, ultimately LA was pretty physical with SAC and i think they stopped driving and shot too many jumpshots.
But one thing thats fishy was Shaq stepped over the line every time in game 6 before the ball hit the rim which u cant do and the ref never called it. He did it every time in game 6. i watched other youtube clips and i never once saw Shaq cross early.
So why would he do it only in game 6?
Except that it's blatantly obvious that the Lakers are better than the Nuggets. In 2002, the distinction between who was better out of the Lakers and Kings wasn't clear at all.
Those Kings had beastly studs, this team has Billups and Melo. They dont have one post player that you have to double down on on defense.
But on the other hand they have Chris Anderson and Dahntay Jones..
I don't buy that. If Kobe doesn't get food poisoning after game 1, LA probably knocks them out in 5 or 6. Christie, Divac, and Stojakovic were too much of pussies in late-game situations for me to ever put that team over the 02 Lakers.
that team had a player superior in the lakers weakness PF. these days even the lakers have a better pf. only sf is the difference but melo isnt destroying the lakers.
George Karl will get eaten alive by Phil. Billups will make it compe ive because he's a leader and a winner but I don't think Nugs can beat the Lakers.
I think the Rockets WCSF series--if they advance will be more compe ive than the Nuggets-Lakers series since they play defense....also Adelman just has to see the youtubes of 2002 game 6 to be motivated against Phil Jackson and the Lakers.
What's all this Lakers/Nuggets talk? Denver won't even get past the Mavs..let's get real guys. See you in LA
