When your 6-year-old tells you he saw a man who looked like a girl and you're not sure if he's talking about a butch or a cross-dresser, before you launch into a 10-minute discussion on how everyone is different and that's okay, find out if he just meant he saw a man with a long pony tail.

I had a similar experience, only it involved a Scotsman wearing a kilt!
Well, we actually DO have a cross dresser in my hood (and a very badly dressed one at that...definitely a candidate for What Not To Wear!), so I did have to have that conversation a few years ago when my kids were younger.
