If the answer is no, then Marion becomes an intriguing S&T possibility. He will get something in excess of the MLE in terms of annual salary, even if it is a short contract. When you look at what the Raptors have under contract next year, they have a real lack of talent. They will be interested to see what talent Marion could bring. And they may be the only franchise in the NBA that would actually want Bonner. So Bonner plus KT for Marion at 2 yrs, 15M?

I think an S&T for a player like Marion or David Lee, while unlikely, is much more likely than 3-4 player for a VC or RJ.

Plus, if I'm not mistaken, hasn't Pop always had a man crush on Marion. I think he's always wanted to find away to get him for almost 10 years. It's just his asking price was always way to high. Could be interesting.

Why do you think that? Did he ever say so in the 05 or 07 playoff series?

    I'm completely against this..

Marion has absolutely no ability to create offense for himself, he's undersized, his athleticism is wearing down..if we somehow get him on a bad contract, we'll have to deal with his diminishing skills, since he's going to be nothing without his athleticism..

he also wants too much $, and he has an ego..

I always thought he liked him more as a replacement for Sean when he retired. This goes back to the 2000 series. By '05 or '07 it was a mute point. We had Bruce and Manu. In 2000, things were a little different.

I don't know how I feel about the trade. But it does seem like something Pop would want doesn't it?

Pop is often complementary to opponents, but Shawn Marion would be one of the last 10 players in the NBA he would ever have on his roster. Pop is real big on "getting over yourself", a feat that Marion may never accomplish in this lifetime. If you want specifics, refer to timvp's post.

Different players play at different levels of awareness of the game as it unfolds. If 10 is the highest level, players like Tim, Kobe, Manu are 10s. Shawn Marion is a 3, at best. He needs his entire offense spoon fed to him. He can barely create a bowel movement without a laxative, let alone a shot for himself or anyone else.

For the longest time I've said this guy was a glorified garbage man. But every team needs someone like this, who doesn't need plays run for him, someone to fill the cracks.

If we could get him for a reasonable price why not?

He improves our offense in the up tempo game. Plus this guy gets after it and will create second chance opportunities in the half court.

So he can't create his own shot, but he will clean up the garbage and Tony or Manu could get him some easy looks. You saw how Manu was working out with Gooden in such a limited time together.

He rebounds. Defends well for his position.

Maybe after leaving Phoenix he's been humbled, and doubtless Timmy would be a good influence on him.

Not. Don't delude yourself. It's hard for guys to change who they are - especially as they get older. They don't change. Instead, they simply move from one team to another, as yet another GM thinks he can rehab them.

Let someone else take a flyer on him. He isn't worth all the trouble and drama.
