But despite what you did to the suns repeatedly (and what the suns did to themselves), I hate seeing you go out like this because it seems like the end of an era where the Spurs, Suns, and occasionally Dallas were all going at it for the le every year.

Dallas shouldn't laugh too much either, they peaked at about the same time as Phoenix and the Spurs and are running on borrowed time.

Looks like the change of guard is complete...

You mean they ran out of luck. Coming from a Sun fan this is sad. If Amare and Diaw did not step off the bench noway the Spews would have won that series and go on to play for the championship. Suns had control of that series and a dumb rule caused them to lose. Thats called luck. I guess I should be happy you did not say "dynasty"

I prefer to forget about that incident. Rules are rules despite how much common sense they remove from the equation.

thx man, and I miss watching the Suns play the lakers aswell... really fun times... this is a new era where the younger players seem more confident and grown up a little...

I hope the suns have a well rested shaq, and loses a few pounds... aswell as Amare, and nash! fun fun team to watch!

I'm hoping they can bring in a big that can rotate on D or somehow teach Amare to do that. And teach nash to play john stockton dirty defense.

The spurs intrigue me though, I have the scary feeling both the Suns and Spurs waited too long to rebuild to where they got stuck with a lot of older talent.

If the big 3 can remain healthy, I'll agree. However I think Bowen is done and Bonner should not be starting. You need to pick up several very good role players, preferable younger ones.

That I certainly agree with. Both TD and TP played great, and that is a good sign that we can contend again. If they would have sucked, then I would have agreed with them being done.

Nah, we'll just reload in the offseason, and if healthy we'll be back contending next year.

I find it hard to believe that the Spurs "big three" will ever be healthy or talented enough to lead the Spurs to another championship.

It hasnt happened the last two seasons. And theyre just getting older.

That's some funny . I wasn't aware rotating on defense is an extremely complicated procedure that needs to be taught. In case you forgot, they brought Porter and Bill Cartwright in to teach him to teach it, and Amare didn't listen because it wasn't very fun.

I hate how the Amare homers still think it's a matter of Amare learning. This was emire's 7th season in the NBA, not his 2nd season. It's never been an issue of learning how to play defense, it's a matter of Amare caring about playing defense.

I know it's impossible for you to objectively look at a player who has been on the Suns ever since you started watching, but just admit Amare does not give a about playing defense and cares even less about doing what he can to help his team win.

So what's your excuse for that beatdown the Spurs threw on Phoenix in game 6 of that series?

There is none......Mike Antoni (he doesn't deserve the letter D in his name) inexplicably played Kurt Thomas only 12 minutes even though increasing his minutes was the one reason the Suns didn't get swept. Meanwhile Barbosa forgot to change his diaper and Antoni continued to give him big minutes for a must-win game disregarding his crappy play all series.

The team with the coach dumb enough to make a mistake as big as thinking Amare StandandAdmire could be Duncan's primary defender in a must win game when that mistake ALREADY BACKFIRED earlier on in the series doesn't deserve to win.

Its a mix. I dont think Amare has a great defensive IQ but I think he also needs a coach who will enforce him to play defense, a la Popovic.

    Terry Porter wasnt an enforcer.

Amare has an extremely low IQ in general. I met his bodyguard a month ago and some of the stuff he's been doing since his eye injury is beyond re ed.

And Terry Porter was an enforcer, please don't try to tell someone who paid as much attention to the situation as I did that he wasn't. The reason Nash, Bell, Diaw, and Amare all hated the guy was because of how much of an enforcer he was.

They were used to Antoni who let you get away with anything if you were in his fav-7. Miss a practice, just apologize to him and he'll forget about it. Don't feel like rotating on defense, that's ok, just tell Antoni you didn't want to commit a foul that slows the tempo down and he'll say you did the smart thing.

When players sign with the Suns specifically cause they don't do stuff like practice or play defense, they don't take kindly to a newly hired coach that emphasizes both.

Sorry pal, but you are wrong on this one. Porter didnt enforce any discipline anymore than D'Antoni.

I saw Shaq and Amare play some of the most careless defense Ive ever seen and I never saw Porter call a timeout to chew them out.

I saw Amare bark at the refs everytime he misses an inside shot, meanwhile his man goes untouched the other way for a dunk. Ive seen it multiple times. No timeout. No immediate subs ution.

I read how Shaq informed Porter how he was coming into the game against the Lakers early in the season.

All Porter did was slow down the Suns. And then he kind of gave up on that idea mid-way through the first half.

    Paul Silas. Popovic. etc.

Thats what Amare Stoudemire needs. Someone who isnt afraid to chew him out on national TV.

I agree, Spurs arent done. But its starting to sound like "if Tmac and Yao can ever get healthy".

Is it still inherently possible to have the big three healthy? Even if there are no injuries, are they still talented enough after Duncan and Ginobili's natural regression?

Assuming you started following the NBA in 2006, you are correct sir.
