4-1 would still be 4-1
Remember these guys? They always played an important part in our playoff runs and man we could of really used them. Of course they didn't get any younger so it wouldn't of mattered anyway. Just sayin.......Memories and how things sure change.
4-1 would still be 4-1
With them, maybe 4-0. They're not Mutombo.
You didn't watch the 2008 playoffs, did you? They were both pretty much as "fork stuck" as Finley is right now.
yeah horry was done last year he wouldnt have helped a bit. barry really struggled this year so he wouldnt have done much either methinks
Horry was done, Barry has sucked this year pretty much and is near done IMO. They would not have helped much this year, although Horry would hit a few threes and been ALOT better than Bonner IMO on D even in his old age. I think we win two with both of them at the most, thats if Barry gets hot and Horry plays his D.
Horry was done for sure-barry on the other hand I have a very confident feeling all those 3's finley, bonner, mason, udoka missed that barry would've made some of those. He had some big games in the playoffs when pop finally played him last year especially the one agains the lakers. Barry in the right situation is the most reliable 3 shooter ive seen on the spurs in awhile. He doesn't choke like everyone on this years playoff team does.
Horry was a huge reason we got past the Hornets...more than Finley and Thomas were.
And anyone that would describe Barry's performance against the Lakers as "done" obvious didn't watch that series.
Get ing real...
Pop was going to play Finley and Thomas over them...period...in fact Pop had played Finley and whoever over them, stupidly, since the 2005 le, and we have pretty much been a since then, we just got lucky the Warriors cleared the path for us in 2007 and no serious challengers got in our way.
Let me spell it out for you...Michael Finley and Kurt Thomas are let down players...did anyone really think we were going to win a le relying heavily on these ing dudes? Because you obviously didn't watch the majority of their playing careers if you believed that.
Let down guys...I saw it coming a mile off and ed about it accordingly.
You have to be real stupid to make the claim that Barry looked done against LA last year.
Anyone that's jocked Finley and Thomas needs to shut the up and stop operating under the delusion that they understand what wins championships...because it's dman sure not those two suking players....
Ever.
Healthy or not.
Clearly you didn't watch a game. Unless you know of any players to replace Manu's points, slashing, and the ability to find the open guy, you ain't got . This run proved that.
Yeah the Spurs really missed those 35 games missed by Barry.
Finley plays for the Mavs = Mavs are our
Finley leaves Mavs comes here = we are the
The Mavs are not a great team, they weren't a great team in 06, they were a choking , just not as much of one as we were where htey were concerned. They aren't a great team this year either. In fact they suck and are an extremely poor horribly put together team.
It's not them...it's us.
We've been a since the day Finley joined this team, and his signing killed our Dynasty.
Mark Cuban ing owned us and that 15 mil he was paying Finley to defeat us was well spent...once he got Findog on the right team to where he could do the most damage.
Cuban > Us for realizing his team would be better once Finley was off of it.
I betcha he considers that entire ordeal, waiving Finley while still paying him 15 mil a year and Fin signing with us..a complete and total win, because he's done nothing but that as far as we are concerned since the day it happened.
Cuban'd do it again 20 times out of 20 if the same situation arose. Because it has been nothing but a Spur killing win for him.
We should all give thanks to Don Nelson, because he's the reason we won the 07 le...our heart was already gone by then and it was just extreme good fortune and sheer intertia from a decade of experience and success that carried us through to the 07 le...we've been a soft cracking of team since the day Michael Finley joined this team.
The worst signing in team history.
If I were to list the greatest Spur killers in team history the list would look something like this:
1-10: Michael Finley
Yeah...you don't know ...if I had a dollar for every soft choking you virtually sucked off...I could ing retire.
STFU
Rasho
Hedo
Beno
Finley
Etc...until I just want to puke on you.
And still you talk your as if you've ever been right.
Just sitck your "yeah" stupid bull back up yoru ass from whence it came until you are actually right about something for once.
And Manu is not an excuse for losing to the Mavs either...losing Duncan wouldn't be an excuse for losing to the Mavs. This is worst than the Mav team that got bounced in the first round by the Warriors....for half the season they didn't even look like they'd make the playoffs.
Pretty much the worst post season loss in the history of this team...
Thank you Findog, for turning us into the ing Mavs.
Scola still better
This a pretty ty and useless thread, much like Horry and Barry![]()
LOL U Mad man? We could have beaten anyone in 07, Dallas included, we went 7 in 06 yes but that could have gone either way due to some b.s. calls! That series was horrible called, they won in 7 in OT, why could we not win in 07?
IT'S because the SPURS keep too many old guys for the plights as of today. They should have traded off all these old guys in 2 seasons ago and develop some young players
I don't know about Horry because he looked like last year but Barry did great for us last year heping us in the playoffs and esp. in the WCF.
Nice cherry pick of one good 2008 series out of three, whottt. Notice you're not mentioning those other two series where he averaged less than 4 points. Hmmm.
Barry's done. This season proved it.
The Spurs could have definitely used Horry of at least 2007 and Barry of last year versus the Lakers. Would they have beaten the Mavs? Probably not. Although Horry was 15-for-15 in getting out of the first round and perhaps that wasn't all luck . . .
Regarding Finley, whottt is being a little too harsh but I somewhat agree with the overall sentiment. I was iffy about the initial signing. This latest signing, I thought it was a colossal mistake. I thought that Pop would overplay him and then he'd disappoint in the playoffs ... or exactly what happened.
Now I'm to the point where I just want him off the team. Very high character player who has tried hard, but his presence on the team is extremely detrimental to the Spurs if they want to win a fifth championship ring. Pop overplays him and turns a blind-eye to Finley's horrible defense. Finley's offense is pretty helpful during the regular season but his type of all or nothing game doesn't mesh well with playoff basketball. Way too streaky offensively, way too bad at defense and just doesn't really have the winning killer at ude a veteran of his stature should have.
If he's not off the team by the beginning of next year, I'd say the Spurs have a 0% chance to win the championship.
Barry was more than a gunner; he was a playmaker as well. We could have used him. We don't have any playmakers outside of Timmy.
BTW, I was all for keeping Barry over Finley. But as it turned out, the correct move was letting both leave. Barry never recovered from the calf injury, which is the same injury that has forced just about every Barry into retirement.
I'm not quite in Whott's corner, but Pop the wrong decision keeping Finley over Barry, because he has a mancrush on Finley. Barry was much more productive per minute, and more efficient overall. He was also much more versatile (playing 1, 2, or 3, and able to handle coming off the bench, unlike Finley). Barry was more fragile, and could support less minutes (see his missed 35 games last year), but we didn't want our old men eating tons of minutes in the regular season -we wanted to develop the younger guys. What Pop should have done last season was release Vaughn and keep Barry as 3ed PG (this would have cost a little more). He should have released Finley and gotten Renaldo Balkman, who was traded for a TE (of which we had one of appropriate size from the Beno trade, which was expiring anyway, and would have saved a little money...). This season's team would have been much improved...
Horry on the other hand was and is done. KT was at least adequate when we had a decent matchup for him...
Barry is getting butt splinters over here in Houston.
