Is there a possibility that the Spurs could sign both Sheed and Mcdyess? Or would that cost too much money and leave us with nothing to pursue a solid wing player?
I've been asking the same question. Would that "sell the farm" so to speak. I think we can test the waters with them for a year and see what happens if the money works of course

I'd love to bring McDyess in. He's always been a great defensive player, and he's great with pick and roll offense. He also (ahem) show up for every game, even when the rest of his team calls it in. Age is something of a factor, though it also all but guarantees Pop will give him minutes.

I agree that his skill set is similar to what Thomas brings to the table, but I also think that McDyess is just an all around better player.

So bring on McDyess, and drop Thomas.

Not sure if anyone posted this yet...

November, when the trade came, the Nuggets were excited. So were the Spurs. Denver had obtained Chauncey Billups, and he would turn George Karl into a smart coach again. But also included in the deal with Detroit was Antonio McDyess; from the start, everyone knew the Nuggets and McDyess would agree to a buyout, and McDyess would be free to sign with any team. The Spurs searched for his phone number immediately, and they made contact. According to McDyess' agent, so did 16 other franchises. But no team had a chance, with McDyess intending to return to Detroit, until now. Weighing money and talent and need, the Spurs may not find a better option this summer than McDyess.

I love Sheed. He's not actually a psycho or a nutcase, like Ron Artest. He's just an emotional player who's now gotten a rep from the refs. But he plays defense hard - I've always said he was better at defending Tim than anyone else in the league. He'd fit in well with the Spurs and his offense would be a huge help.

However, he is getting older too, and the Spurs don't really need more age. I'd take him for vet min, and he'd be an upgrade from KT (who I also love), Oberto, and Bonner. But we need either Splitter or Mahinmi to give us some youth in our front line.

I think Finley's days are over. I think Vaughn is gone.

Mason and Hill should just get better next season, and I hope Gooden stays and contributes as well.

Bowen is nothing more than a 12-15 minute a night player for the most part, but he'd probably accept that role and could continue to help mentor Udoka, who I think has fulfulled his promise of stepping into Bowen's shoes pretty well. Also, Hill has proved himself a very promising defender.

The Spurs actually have a lot more promise than anyone is acknowledging. The big question is Manu. Either he's done, and he needs to retire, or he comes back strong and healthy, and paces himself for another run. I am not sure which one it is, and I don't really trust that he is the best gauge of which one he is capable.

Supergirl, no way in Sheed takes the vet min from us. I assume the bidding for his services starts with the MLE. Probably McDyess, too.
