Dallas has Marc Cuban, Houston does not.
It seems a lot of people here are jumping on the Rocket bandwagon. Of course not the Mavs, since they beat ya'll, but...
Personally, I really like the Rockets myself. Second favorite team. I loathe the Spurs, naturally. Mavs-Rockets and Spurs-Rockets seems more like little friendly rivalry compared to Mavs-Spurs. Why is that? Is it Yao? Is Houston just the less hated city? I can't figure it out. Mavs are way more hated, and they have no championships...
Dallas has Marc Cuban, Houston does not.
Spurs are hated because of their dominance (like the Steelers in the 1970s and Patriots more recently). Dallas is hated because of their bage drama-queen owner and because they have punks like Jason Terry and Josh Howard on their team. And maybe also because they have a ton of at ude for a franchise that's yet to win a single Championship.
Houston? They haven't been really good for so long that everyone perceives them as underdogs. I think they're also easier to root for now that T-Mac is not playing. And aside from Artest (whose behavior has improved of late), they have classy players. No punks.
I'm rooting for them and the Nuggets (even though I don't care for Carmelo).
I don't know about anyone else, but I loved the Mavs until Cuban bought the team. Mavs fans were also a lot more fun before he came along.
I just really hate the Mavericks because of Jason Terry,Dirk Nowitzki,Josh Howard and Marc Cuban. I also hate alot of their fans, but i like some of them who have some respect for Spurs fans when they are up 3-1 against the Spurs.
I don't hate the Rockets, I actually kind of like them, just not when they are playing spurs. They are really a neutral team that dosen't cause alot of problems atleast not for us.
Houston has classy players like Yao and Shane. And there's no bag on this team. (Ron's behavior is good for the moment.)
The true haters of Houston is the homers who cannot stand the routinely collapse in the 4th quarter and blow a two-digit lead.
Old school spur fans will always hate the rockets.

I'd go for Dallas in a Mavs/Rockets series.

coz they haven't done for the last 12 years.....nobody hates a scrub team.

Yes, what JoseJuanJesusBarea, said. The Mavs have little boy and Houston does not. Houston fans always show a of a lot more class than Mavs fans do. Mavs fans think beating the Spurs, made them NBA Champions.

you make enemies and create rivals by beating them in the playoffs. houston hasn't done that in over a decade.

I enjoyed watching Fin and Dirk develop into good players, and was happy for their success. Then Cuban bought the team and the entire fanbase turned into bandwaggoning Rockets holes overnight.Ditto

Translation: I don't mind the Rockets as a team, but I absolutely can't stomach the ty frontrunning fans of any Houston sports team.

I have never had any problems with the Rockets at all. Even when they beat the Spurs, I still don't mind them. They respect other teams and organizations.
I dislike the Mavs because they talk too much. They seem to have no respect for any team and their accomplishments. What makes it worse is that they do all of this trash talking and have no hardware to back it up. The Mavs are a good team (don't get me wrong) but I find it difficult to support a team that acts so downright stupid.
Mavericks fans are also Cowboys fans...so therein lies your problem. Besides the success of the Rockets in the 90's, Houston sports fans have actually dealt with quite a large amount of disappointment. Ask anyone that is a long time fan of the Astros or Texans/Oilers.
Partially true, I'm a life-long mavs fan but I don't even know the names of Cowboys players. Except for Mario Williams, I don't know about any guy on texans either.
Meh, with the Spurs gone, I just want either Houston or Dallas to win it all. I will admit to preferring Houston (mainly because like people said before Cuban, Terry, and Howard are asses), but generally "Texas uber alles!"
