Smart. Intelligent. Good all-around player and would be an ideal fit for the Spurs. That said, I'd much rather the Spurs kill this tendency of signing the latest "old guy du jour", who is rapidly approaching his NBA expiration date. Pass.

    Given whos out there?

WTF, he's the best wing available.

Time to win now, enough with the "future" player bull .

I'm in the Grant Hill Camp. If Hill came here, the I'd want McDyess moreso that Wallace.

Yes, he's aged. I agree but, in terms of basketball years, one has to remember that with his injuries, his time on the court was actually lessened. The rest of his career can be extended as long as he puts in the work. He defends 2 & 3's very well and is still a triple-threat type of player. Not full time, but in prime-time, he's better than the serviceable types we have now whose last name is not Ginobili.

Grant Hill isn't coming. If he were ever to sign in SA, it would have been in 2007. He didn't, and appears to be either Phoenix enamored or Orlando butthurt.

I like him, I would love to see him play for the spurs, but he's old. We need to focus on the younger ones.

GMAB. Of course they have to win now. However, it's the Spurs reliance on the AARP philosophy is partly responsible for what's gotten them into this connundrum. A roster of aging, offensively-limited, unathletic players cannot fend off younger, quicker, more athletic opponents. When Duncan and Manu were younger and healthier, adding a couple of FA vets every year was the way to go. That's no longer the case. It's also obvious that Parker is now being overly taxed.

The roster doesn't have to be stocked with ALL old guys or ALL young guys. The FO would be foolish to continue selling out in one specific direction. A blend of vets, mid-career and younger players, with a better mix of various skills across the roster would be utopia.

A mid-career FA or acquisition via trade, along with the continued development of Hill, and the possible roster debuts of Ian, Malik, Marcus and a developing player via the draft would seemingly do the trick.

The Spurs MUST be better, overall talent to compete with these emerging teams. Age and experience alone will no longer cut it - and Grant Hill is most definitely NOT the best wing available. He's well past his shelf-life for this team.

Grant Hill Could Reunite With Doc Rivers
Posted Jul 04, 2009 11:26PM By Tim Povtak (RSS feed)

Doc Rivers may get a second chance to coach Grant Hill. The last time it didn't turn out so well.

Rivers, now coach of the Boston Celtics, and Hill, an unrestricted free agent who played last season for the Phoenix Suns, will meet Sunday in Orlando to discuss the possibility of working together again. Both make their offseason homes here.

"I don't have to go very far to meet with him this time,'' Hill said Saturday night before watching his wife Tamia perform at a Summer Soul Series concert in Orlando.

Rivers believes that Hill could be a key veteran to help the Celtics get past Cleveland and Orlando and reach the NBA Finals again next season. Hill, whose teams never have won a playoff series, is intrigued by the possibility.

Hill also is scheduled to travel Monday morning to New York, where he will meet with Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni. Suns general manager Steve Kerr came to Orlando Wednesday to speak with Hill about re-signing in Phoenix.

"I don't know what's going to happen now,'' Hill said. "It's too early to say.''

Rivers and Hill spent parts of four seasons together (2000-2004) with the Orlando Magic, but the period was scarred by injuries. Hill spent most of his time on the sideline, battling right ankle problems that required four different surgeries and almost ended his career. His absence from the lineup, and Orlando's struggles without him, were why Rivers was fired early in the 2003-04 season.

Hill, 36, isn't the player he once was before his ankle woes when he averaged 25.8 points with the Detroit Pistons in 1999-00, but he is healthy and productive again. He played all 82 games last season in Phoenix when he averaged 12 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in almost 30 minutes.

The Celtics, meanwhile, have been looking to add to an already veteran core that won the NBA le two seasons ago. They met with Detroit's Rasheed Wallace last week.

Knicks Make An Offer To Hill
    More Knicks News

    Jul 07, 2009 4:06 PM EST
The Knicks spent nearly all day and night with Grant Hill on Monday, ending it with a contract offer.

The New York Post is reporting that the offer is for one-year and is worth a portion of the club's mid-level exception.

"We think we have a chance, but you never know," a team source said of landing the free-agent forward.

Hill has been linked to the Suns and Celtics as well.

"You want to have players who've had a lot of success before so they can show the other players how to do it," Knicks president Donnie Walsh told The Post. "That's the kind of player we want to bring in."
