Good game Rockets. I forgot what it looked like to have a good defender stay on the court all game against the Lakers. And two good perimeter defenders against the Lakers? The Spurs would have to go back to Bowen and SJax in 2003
And, WTF, how the did the Rockets get an even whistle in Staples? That's unheard of. Going to Staples, getting Kobe'd by the refs is standard.

IT'S ON NOW! Rockets will not lose at home.
Lakers lose home court advantage!
Lakers have a series on their hands. Again I havent seen that "toughness" LA supposedly has. And no those 2 regular season victories in February over Boston/Cleveland dont count. This is the playoffs. If you have it in you, it shows in the playoffs.
This just in... T-Mac to return to lineup. Rockets players threaten to strike.
I'm now just waiting for the X-Ray to show a fracture on Yao's kneecap and the Lakers getting a free pass to the WCF![]()
I don't think you can just outright say that... despite the great win tonight, the Lakers are an incredible team. Every game is going to be hard fought.
Lakers made a brave showing without their MVP Luke Walton.
Man, L.A. now has a TON of pressure on them to win Game 2. If they don't... hoo boy.

Stay thirsty my friends! Lakers were pretty much out of sync the whole game and still it was close. Lakers should have no problems closing this one in five maybe six. Rockets took advantage of that long rest. Congrats!!!!
A few observations
1. Gaysol is soft as tissue paper that guy was manhandled by Yao and Scola. He really looked pathetic out there begging the refs for calls.
2. Yao's height really bothers the lakers it seems they can't get offensive rebounds easily like they normally do due to Yao's presence.
3. Artest shot out of his ass today. I hope he can play like this again but he will probably cool off the next game.
Yeah, that's usually my reaction too.
Im gonna go ahead and predict all of Inside the NBA is gonna be about how bad the Lakers were and not how good the Rox played.
In the game I watched the Lakers got pushed around by a Houston team that was flat more physical.
i doubt artest will be out of his mind the rest of the series. yao will be. kobe will return to form, gasol needs to show up and just make 3's. when you miss open 3's its all on you.
u were saying?
Lotta heart from Yao tonight. When he went down clutching his knee and kobe walked away unaffected I almost had a heart attack. Why do the basketball gods favor that small headed arrogant piece of ??
BTW it's amazing what can happen against elite teams when you have solid perimeter defense combined with adequate rebounding.
Amazing.
Because he wants to be like Mike.
He wants it so, so badly and it keeps evading him and you never know when he's going to completely nuts and violently assault somebody.
