The chosen1 thing is pretty bad but having a tattoo insinuating that you are Jesus is about as Narcissistic as it gets. Not to mention offensive. I'm sure Jesus would play better D than Amare.

Actually Jesus didn't defend either. When it came to defending himself, Jesus turned the other cheek. So amusingly it kind of fits. Amare also allows people to destroy him and won't put up a fight. If you think about it, that's pretty benevolent of Amare.
Amare he's a frickin re for getting that.
This can be said from many perspectives.
My perspective is Amare is actually great at defending himself while he's playing defense. He doesn't box out, play help defense, defend the pick and roll, and he doesn't make any physical effort to stop another player from backing him down. I'd say he does a great job defending himself and preventing injury. after the game he's also great at defending himself by blaming teammates for why the guy he was supposed to be guarding had 7 offensive rebounds.
Jesus sacrificed himself for the human race (well according to the bible at least), one thing I've never seen is Amare making sacrifices on D to help his team. IMO Jesus would be disgusted at the type of defense Amare plays.
I'm offended that people who also cheer for the Suns find the tat cool and oftentimes refer to him as "Black Jesus". I'm Jewish so the Jesus part wouldn't offend me. I personally call him "Black Judas" when I hear someone call him that.
Nicknames like Black Jesus give emire the idea it's ok for him to coast on defense because he's too pretty and important to play defense.
Actually, the tattoo is in honor of the Mexican mechanic named Jesus (Hay-soos) who pimped out his ride. They call him Black Jesus because he's already covered in oil from working on cars.

In the bible, the "Chosen One" is the Messiah, aka the Son of God, aka Jesus.
The word "Christ" in Greek can mean "Son of God" or "Chosen One".
