Can you post a quote on this? Not that I don't believe you, I just haven't heard about it.
Ginsburg recalls that as a young, female lawyer her voice often was ignored by male peers:
Times have changed, but apparently not that much. According to Ginsburg:
In short, Justice Ginsburg is tired of speaking to a brick wall, and would like to have at least one Justice who will see the light when she speaks, not when some male parrots her point.
Isn't there something in the Cons ution that says a Supreme Court justice can't be a pathetic whiner?
It does bring up the larger point, though. Iden y politics is going to play a huge role in who Obama picks and he's getting pressed from all quarters; women, blacks, hispanics, gays, and on and on and on.
, he's even suggested putting someone with no legal background but that has an ability to empathize and settle cases based on a just outcome instead of some "lofty legal theory."
Now that's entertainment.

Maestro!Isn't there something in the Cons ution that says a Supreme Court justice can't be a pathetic whiner?
He hasn't suggested it at all. It's been suggested to him. And actually it hasn't, because nobody's said anything about putting someone with "no legal background" on the court. (The Dems didn't like Harriet Miers, Yoni)
Rather, it's been suggested that Obama get someone from outside the lower courts/judiciary, but not someone who has "no legal background". Yoni's just a butthurt little so he made that up. Per usual.
I figured as much, considering he's a lawyer.
I mean Obama...
I feel her pain

Justice Ginsburg wants President Obama to appoint another female to the Supreme Court. In support of this desire, she complains that, after all these years, the comments she makes when the Supreme Court Justices confer sometimes are ignored.
Ginsburg recalls that as a young, female lawyer her voice often was ignored by male peers:
I don't know how many meetings I attended in the '60s and the '70s, where I would say something, and I thought it was a pretty good idea. ... Then somebody else would say exactly what I said. Then people would become alert to it, respond to it.
Times have changed, but apparently not that much. According to Ginsburg:
It can happen even in the conferences in the court. When I will say something -- and I don't think I'm a confused speaker -- and it isn't until somebody else says it that everyone will focus on the point.
In short, Justice Ginsburg is tired of speaking to a brick wall, and would like to have at least one Justice who will see the light when she speaks, not when some male parrots her point.
Consider me sympathetic. I can't count the number of times I posted something on Power Line --- and I think I write clearly -- and it wasn't until John or Scottt said the same thing that the blogosphere focused on the point. And I don't even have gender to blame.
JOHN adds: I hope you don't mean to suggest any sort of equivalence between John Roberts and Andrew Sullivan.

Yeah, who cares what that piece of trash Consitution says it's just a fluid do ent anyways. I'm going to pick someone who interprets the law not follows it. Needless to say I'm picking someone who's an activist not a Cons utionalist.
I won get over it.
Now leave me alone I have to get into the used car business, vouchers coming soon.
Weak troll sauce.
Ah yes, the old "activist" canard.
More LockBeard sock-puppetry. No sauce at all.
Not weak just true.
Nah, you're horrible at this.
So young man in your infinate wisdom tell me specifics I should be looking for in my pick.
Or if you were me what would you do as I am an excellent listener?
You aren't the president, so I don't give a whom you pick.
You're just an internets nobody like the rest of us.
That's what I thought. You can't answer the question.
He did answer the question- you don't have a pick to look for qualities in.
If you want to be a ing adult, sign in under a non-troll... and ask him what values you think Barack Obama should look for in his supreme court nominee, I'm sure he'd be happy to respond.
I think he's doing just fine.
Sorry I know I have big ears and troll like features, this is who I am. It's not about values it's about how you rule on written law.
LOL, You - Me - And Barry Obama know you are becoming obsessed with me.
We need an ACLU Lesbian Hispanic Disabled Midget as a replacement imo.
Go blow a firehose, LockBeard.
