I wish you guys the best of luck. See ya when Stern dies
Let's go ahead and get this started. Just move on. We got beat by a better team. No need to dwell on that pathetic excuse of an intentional foul that Antoine "I Eat s" Wright halfheartedly attempted on Carmelo, or about how he then decided to study Carmelo's shooting form instead of reacting to no whistle being blown.
Let's just move on from it.
First move the Mavs need to make this offseason? Get Antoine Wright the off the team.
What after that? Let's discuss it.
I wish you guys the best of luck. See ya when Stern dies
Antoine made a mistake, and shouldn't take the blame for Dirk missing four shots in the last 90 seconds of the game. And lying to cover up the mistake during the press conference isn't anything new.
The Mavs have been great this year. I think they peaked exactly when they should and just ran into the wrong team at the wrong time; maybe the only team other than Cleveland that was going to be able to do this to them. This was the playoff run that they traded Jason Kidd for, and he has been excellent. Going away from him at the end of a must-win game was a bad, bad move.
Oh shut up, TPark.
If it isn't it should be.
Can we agree that Gerald Green didn't do today?
I'm pretty sure he can competently execute an intentional foul.

Point of emphasis this year: Arms straight up if you don't want the foul called.
First order of biz:
1) Call up George Shinn and tell him you will take Chris Paul and Peja off his hands for the Erick Dampier and Jerry Stackhouse Memorial expiring contracts puu puu platter. If he says no, then....
2) Resign Jason Kidd to a 3 year, $22 million dollar contract.
3) Resign Bass; use the MLE to address either front-court depth or perimeter scoring.
4) Stage Cristal Taylor's death as a suicide.
5) Aggressively try to turn Damp and Stack's contracts for other pieces, a Billups/AI-type swap.
6) Consider Dirk and Kidd untouchables for the upcoming 09-10 season unless you're blown away with offers for one or both of them. Make everybody else on the team available. The Mavs best trading chips are Josh, Jet, a resigned Bass, and the Damp/Stack contracts. They need to swing for the fences and make a KG to Boston type splash, be willing to take on an onerous contract and go heavy into lux tax territory to get another badly needed piece. Once they have that next piece, they can sign role player type FA's to fill out the rotation.
This team is good, not great. There's no need to blow things up when Dirk still probably has 2 elite years left in him. If they're not going to ship him to a contender and start over like Al Jefferson and the Wolves, then they need to be on the other side of that equation like KG and the Celtics. They proved this year that despite the flaws in the roster, they're still a lot closer to the penthouse than the homeless shelter.
With this officiating crew, I'm not taking anything for granted.
Right now I'm so pissed I'm in my "Just blow the while damn thing up!" mood, but things can still be salvaged somewhat.
However, I don't see this thing getting any better if JET or Josh Howard are on this roster next season. Fortunately for the Mavs, JET's trade value is at an all-time high and Josh regained his trade value.
I'm also starting to entertain the idea of Chris Bosh. He's available, and very much like Dirk - not good enough to be the #1, but a damn good option as a #2. If they both work as 1.5's, things could work out well. I know they tend to occupy the same space, but I don't see that as a problem. Dirk has the ability to play on the perimeter and Bosh has the ability to play in the low post. When one guy has high post position, the other one moves to his second best spot accordingly.
Mark Cuban is the one who got this Chris Paul trade rumor started. Now, some dumbass Detroit sports writer thinks that the Hornets would actually trade him--and that it would help them.
Jason Kidd and Jason Terry for Yao Ming. Would you do it?
Yeah, there's no problem the Hornets have, financially or otherwise, that will be solved by trading Chris Paul. If the team around him still sucks when his contract is up, then he might come available if they're afraid of losing him for nothing. But right now, it's just unfathomable to me.
We knew he couldn't shoot, we knew he couldn't defend, but the asshole can't even competently intentional foul? Antoine Wright.
And Carlisle for playing him
FREE GERALD GREEN!
At this point with Yao, you can't take the chance with his Bill Walton feet.
Ghazi rarely has anything of value to say when it comes to actual knowledge of his basketball team. So he does this instead.
Not to mention that nobody will go to Hornets games if Paul was traded. I certainly won't go to anymore. Paul is the last person that should be traded, and even George Shinn is not stupid enough to let that happen.
Not sure about that, he has a better post game than Nowitzki but 60% of Bosh's shots come off of 2-PT shots (74% of Dirk's FWIW). Bosh would be nice but it wouldn't exactly be a low post player, and I'm not sure how good a frontline of Bosh/Dirk is defensively (not that we're good defensively anyway).
But is Bosh even available, and for whom, and what.
Another question, if Kidd walks, what the do the guys in blue do?
Honestly Kidd is too good for us to think we can retool without him. WE're not so stacked w/ talent that we can afford to lose a valuable player like Kidd. Hope we can resign him.
Blowing it up to me is not an option ONLY becuase NJ has the 2010 draft pick.
The NBA made a big post-Katrina commitment to New Orleans and even with Paul, that team has serious financial problems. Trading him kills professional basketball in New Orleans. I think the league would probably not allow it; the hand of Stern would see to that.
Antoine Wright did commit an intentional foul, and the league admitted it. No need to hate on Wright for that particular move.
I'm pretty sure Kidd comes back. The Mavs can offer him way more than either the Cavs or Lakers, and I'm pretty sure those are the only two teams that would want him, and neither would or could give him more than the MLE.
I didn't say he was a low post player, I said he had the ability to operate in the low post. And the Mavs have already committed to playing in crunch time without a true center anyways. Bosh would be an improvement over Bass.
