Screwball pitcher? Uh................. McGraw and Valenzuela are the only two screwball pitchers I can think of who probably survived long enough to hold that claim.
They look alot alike and had very similar careers but Andre is not the guy I am thinking of. Only one other player besides the one I am talking about was drafted by an NBA team, an NFL team and an MLB team, and it wasn't Andre Dawson.

And Fernando Valenzuela was the answer to the other question. Valenzuela faced Nolan Ryan 12 times without ever striking out, the most of anyone.
LOL I might have. It's one of my favorite ones because no one is ever thinking pitcher on that sort of question.
Ditto the Babe Ruth the pitcher and fielder question...I stumped the guys at baseball fever with that one because they just weren't thinking of Ruth as a pitcher. I think I gave more information here on that one than I did there though.

It was early in Winfield's career. He was the first and only other player to charge the mound on Ryan in his entire career besides Robin Ventura...and probably the A #1 reason Ryan Ventura got the crap beat out of him when he did so 20 years later.
Have you ever seen Dave Winfield? I mean all you need to know about it is that Winfield was drafted by an NFL, NBA, ABA, and MLB team. Nolan wanted no part of that..it basically was just a wrestling match with the teamates breaking it up.
LOL in this one it was Winfield that did the swinging and Nolan ducked and tackled him until his catcher could come out there for help.
I don't think it's possible for a normal sized man to beat Dave Winfield in a fight. Dude is insanely built. He was going to be a TE in the NFL. Imagine that a TE that was also a gold glove center fielder.
I forget the details but I think Nolan whizzed one by Winfield's head and Winfield took exception to it so he charged. Next time up he got a fastball whizzed right by his head again, probably going 100mph or so.
