You don't advance to the next game, you advance to the next round; advancing indicates movement, which determines how far a team goes. There is no interpretation needed. The OP loses the bet IF the Rockets don't mount a comeback.

To add, if the bet were to come down to how far you advance via games and both teams lost their series but one lost a day or two before the other that would come down to scheduling, which has nothing to do with the either teams' success or lackthereof.

Looks like a draw to me. The Rockets went a tiny bit further but not far enough to say you lost ... but the one game difference should be enough to keep Roxsfan from being banned.

Read the post again. Hypothetically speaking, if you'd done the bet by games and you both lost in 7 games but you guys lost on Friday and the Mavs lost Saturday, the scheduling would have dictated the winner, not the teams. It would defeat the purpose of the wager.

Yeah, when I thought about it I guess I misinterpreted his alleged misinterpretation of the bet, lol. I still maintain though that you don't advance to another game (in terms of who goes further), you advance to the next round.
