dude was a second rounder. everyone missed
Yet another drafting cluster by our front office.
But hey, we love our team! We don't need youth athleticism and defense! We have savvy vets/Laker leftovers like Devean George and Eddie Jones!

Clutch defensive play by a clutch defensive playa. clutch freethrow shooting by Kobe to sealed the the deal. He even got the last rebound. Lakers got game 1.

No, you can't have Ariza San Antonio.
If the Lakers gotta win, at least it's nice seeing a Bruin get it for them.![]()
I really hope we don't pursue Ariza..he's one of the most overrated players in the NBA IMO..he's certainly good, but he's going to get overpaid..
arizas gonna get paid! i love this guy. think hes going to do a better job of denying carmelo the ball in game 2
Playa needs to get payed to stay in LA. I wish he could play all 48 mins. I can't stand to watch Fluke Walton play. I keep repeating myself but if this bench doesn't pick it up, it can be trouble down the road.
Ariza brings effort and athleticism and has really improved his perimeter shooting. He's become a very good player. He was also getting lit up in the first quarter by Melo. Really good role player for the Lakers, but I agree with whoever said he's overrated. Still a guy the Lakers should want to keep. But anything much more than the MLE is probably too much. They wouldn't even go up to the MLE for Turiaf.
As for teams missing out on Ariza in the draft, the one redeeming executive skill Isiah Thomas had among all his other failures in his post-playing days was identifying players outside the lottery and into the second round that had the talent and abilities to stick in the league.
Definitely..Isiah is widely credited for his skills at drafting though, so it's good to see that he's useful in some regard off the court..
Ariza should not be overpaid becuz offensively he is limited ... he needs to be with other great scorers to be effective.
However he has a calm demeanor, plays hard and is good finisher with an impoving "J" Lakers need to find a way 2 keep him.
Lakers will resign this steals mastermind while dumbass Lamar walks, my hope anyways. THANKS FOR THE CHOKE DENVER!!!!
Good post. It's a rare occurrence on this site.
Most of that came when Luke was guarding him. Although Melo hit a contested three poitner in Ariza's face, but at least it was contested compared to Luke just bending over.
Coming from the guy who was saying Ariza wasn't even a starter at the start of the season.
Ariza is better than Turiaf and he fills a need. Ronny wouldn't have seen any minutes behind Bynum, Gasol, Odom.
Turiaf for the MLE would have been a huge mistake. Not as bad as giving it to Puke or Rad, but pretty bad.
You can officially throw Vuja 's name in there as well.
Forgot Sasha. He's #1 on that list. I hate that ot so much. I really can't even explain how much I hate him.
Lakers should get rid of Vujacic, and keep Ariza.
Vujacic sucks big time, I don't know why he is in the NBA in the 1st place.
Trevor is a keeper; give him the $$$$
Ariza gets money and gets lazy... count it.
I'll enjoy seeing a team overpaying him to get out of LA![]()
no ones gonna offer more than the MLE. i can see the lakers doing a 3 year 15 mil deal they gave sasha last year.
as far as 21_blessings, i disagree. ariza got worked by melo. he admitted it himself. melo shot like 6-7 in the 1st quarter or something like that.
i think game 2, ariza should try to deny the ball to melo. front him in the post and over play him on screens.
Carmelo continued to play well when Luke came in. He had started the game 4-for-5 from the field for 9 points before Luke had even checked in the game.
Would love to see that quote and link. I may have said something along those lines last year in the playoffs when Laker fans said he was the second coming before he had proved that his jumper had improved to the point of being consistently reliable. But, by all means, if I said that at the beginning of the season, please show me the quote and link.Coming from the guy who was saying Ariza wasn't even a starter at the start of the season.
I agree with Ariza being a need, but Turiaf at $4-5 million a year would have been worth it if for anything else that he does not shy from contact down low and brings toughness, an issue yet again this year for the Lakers. Turiaf would have gotten minutes in the Houston series because Gasol and Bynum ed up.Ariza is better than Turiaf and he fills a need. Ronny wouldn't have seen any minutes behind Bynum, Gasol, Odom.
And, I brought up Turiaf but should have added that while they didn't match Golden State's offer, they made ridiculous signings like Walton and Radman. If Ariza agrees to contract worth somewhere around the MLE, it's worth it. If he starts looking for a contract getting into the $7-8 million a year range, I think it's overpaying.
someone's going to pay him alot of money and be extremely disappointed at what they get in return.
