^^ I know that's Windows, but it looks like KDE.
Check this link to setup all the video codecs. It's for Ubuntu-8 instead of 9, but I don't think the process has changed any since then.

I'm as 'boring' as Duncan is, it's been my desktop since June '05.
Yup, MS' creative juices at work.
I haven't had Ubuntu in over a year (since 7 i think), anything new in the latest release?
Hopefully you'll be able to change it to a new model in June '10.
I only started using Ubuntu a few months ago, so I have no idea (Slackware, OpenBSD, and LFS were my *NIX of choice the last 12 years or so until recently).
What kind of desktop environment do you have? or how do you make the lower panel "transparent" and only have icons instead of the standard gnome lower panel?
I'm using gnome and I'm running compiz. Not sure if compiz is allowing the transparency effect, or if it's just inherit to basic gnome. All I did was right click>properties on the panels and on the background tab there's a slider that adjusts the opacity.
As far as the icons thing goes- I just dragged the FF icon from where it originally was in the upper panel, upon installation, down to the center of the lower panel.
When I have a window open, it'll show up in the lower panel, but when it's minimized, other than the text and icon, it remains transparent until I mouse over it.
Nice weather has me feeling floral.

I don't always run Aero, but I have it for this user. I'm just waiting for this monitor to die so I can convince my wife I need a 25" flatscreen.
Damn, don't judge it too harshly by this last build (Jaunty Jackalope). I had to go back to version 8 (Intrepid Ibex) because 9 has so many problems with video. 8.10 is outstanding. 9.04 is complete trash.
