That was just wrong and has no place in basketball. Refs shouldn't of missed it.

Dante need some training from Bowen, that was way too obvious. I'm not laughing though, that's bull , he should be suspended for trying that kind of crap.

I don't see why he should be suspended. Given a foul, yes. Suspended, no.

Will prove to be a dumb move if Jones gets suspended. He's been an X-factor for the Nuggets off the bench, and with they way they have been handing out suspensions this postseason, I would not want to draw the ire of the refs.

That being said, I don't think it's worth a suspension. People get tripped in basketball all the time. The fact that he did it so blatantly intentionally is the only fuel to fire. If Bruce Bowen pulled a stunt like that, Stern would have his head on a stake.

Phil Jackson has every right to stand up and defend his players. Wouldn't you if you were head coach?

The move itself IS definitely worthy of a suspension. Purposefully tripping someone who is making a move to the basket could seriously injure them and put them out of the playoffs. You just can't let that stuff slide, however minor the damage may have been. What if Kobe had twisted his ankle and was unable to play for Game 5....would you be saying the same thing?

Ankles could get twisted at any moment on the basketball court. People get tripped up all the time. I agree that it was dirty and uncalled for, but it was still just a flagrant foul. It was a foul that wasn't a play on the ball. Smith got his flagrant 1, Lakers got their shots and the ball, and life goes on.

Save the suspensions for when elbows and fists start getting thrown.

I agree the move is worthy of a flagrant foul and not a suspension. I said it would result in his suspension because he got a Flagrant 1 for pushing Kobe in the back the prior game.

I believe even Byron Scott was upset at Jone's dirty play in the 1st round.

I think for a player to get the suspension, he has to draw two Flagrant 1s in the same game (or a Flangrant 2). Could be wrong.

Either way, Dahntay Jones is still a punk, but I'd rather see the teams go at it at full strength.

Although I am pretty sure the whole NBA doesn't know koriwhat, but I might be wrong, maybe he is well connected.

Who knows it may help the Nuggets as Kleiza and Smith get more minutes.

Or it could backfire, especially if Smith draws early foul trouble and they are left trying to play Carter or some other undersized guard on Kobe.

Melo elbowed Kobe in the chest/throat area, and you don't hear a peep out of this forum.
Mostly cause this isnt a Lakers forum?

Anyway Melo and Kobe are friends, there isnt any dirty intent between them when they are playing. Why make something of it?

Kobe and Bowen do thier "dirty tricks" while battling for position etc. Jones does it when he is already gotten beat and does it out of frustration. Theres a big difference.

Even AI9 said he was dirty in his twitter last night.

Funny how they label Jones' move "dirty" within seconds of the replay, yet when Fish- shoves his elbow into Luis' Scola's sternum Fisher was just "sending a message" and "always known to be a hard-nosed player"
I don't recall any analysis of the Derek Fisher check into Scola as defending it from being dirty. It was pretty much agreed upon that it was dirty and deserved the flagrant and ejection (except by some unreasonable Laker fans). But, the comments that it was "sending a message" were to say the reason why he did something dirty, not justifying or defending it.

And, you'd have to be completely blind to not see that Dahntay Jones' trip wasn't dirty, particularly after seeing the replay where he obviously didn't have to stick his foot out. Moreover, Fisher got a flagrant and an ejection, while Jones didn't even get a foul.

And, any suggestion that Dahntay was just tired is bull . You don't trip a guy just because he beats you. Every single one of you would be pissed as if it was a player on your team getting tripped like that.

That said, I don't think it deserves a suspension. Maybe a fine and an upgrade to a flagrant 1 or a technical. But, not a suspension.
