Thanks for joining, bag.
What a bunch of little bags running around this place.
how is Tebow greater than Vince? Vince led an undefeated UT team into undefeated USC's backyard (a USC that had 2 Heisman Trophy Winners on it) and beat them in their Bowl for National Championship.
the worst QB in the NFL? hardly
fluke college career? this is a completely assinine, stupid, and trollish comment.
Needed for QB to win in college: athleticism, leadership, poise
Needed for QB to win in pros: intelligence, arm strength, accuracy
If one happened to find a QB who was very athletic and could hold it together in pressure situations, he might be pretty good in college. If he were super-athletic, and performed on the national stage for a first-tier college football program, the hype might grow so big that people would forget that he was kind of dumb and threw like Uncle Rico, so he might get picked really high in the NFL Draft.
The hype might stay so big that he could win awards his rookie year just by running around the field a lot. But eventually, his inability to make good decisions, or even go through his progressions, coupled with flutterarmed scattershot passes, would mean certain doom. Eventually, an AARP-eligible journeyman would supplant said athletic QB in the starting lineup, and by being merely adequate, would propel his team to 13 wins and a spot in the Pro Bowl. Eventually, a prospect cast off from some other team would arrive as the new backup, and formerly super-hyped-up athletic QB would be on the practice squad.
The once-hyped QB might then go insane trying to figure out how we went from major-super-respected leader full of poise to total loser, have an emotional breakdown, contemplate suicide, and generally revert back to the emotional state of a 12-year-old boy.
Despite all of this transpiring, fans of the first-tier college football program who saw him perform on the national stage back then would not be able to give up their mancrushes on him, and would insist that he is not being treated fairly, and that if he were given another chance, he somehow magically would gain the skill set to be the best QB on earth.
You also have to take into account that players from this college football program can be so hyped up that a previous QB who had nothing but a name, and who never did much of anything except when playing vastly inferior opponents, so much so that a spindly egghead frequently had to be called in to save the day when this "pedigreed" player would screw up in pressure situations, nevertheless was able to parlay the hype and his name into an NFL career, which consisted of his basically doing nothing except sulking, throwing interceptions, and getting his internal organs ruptured. Compared to him, the aforementioned athletic QB is Joe Freaking Montana.
Vince was the best college football player I've ever seen. That said, I don't know if he'll ever be capable of getting that ''mental aspect'' you refer to regarding NFL success. He got by on his athleticism through high school, college, and his rookie season.
I'd ship a 4th off to the ans if I was a GM ready to commit to a Wildcat-based offense, but besides that I think his window is damn near closed. The Rose Bowl was a long time ago in the football world. I don't see Fisher giving him another chance barring a Collins injury and justly so. And regarding Alex Smith, he was the #1 pick the year before VY was picked third and now Smith is a nobody. Won't take long for Vince to be the same...it's not like he's going to be the Rick Ankiel of the NFL by moving to WR.
I wonder why he hasn't at least volunteered to take snaps at wideout. He's already 26 years old and doesn't look like he's starting any time soon. VY signed for five years and he's going into year three.
"A ______ type player with better ______ and ______"
Vince Young makes it rain
The last time a member of the Tennessee ans decided to "make it rain" while hanging out an event with Nelly -- people got shot and lives were ruined. But Vince Young isn't one to learn from other people's mistakes. While onstage with the rapper during a performance in Houston last week, Vince rolled out a wad of cash and started showering the crowd with dollar bills. But unlike the incident with his former teammate Pacman Jones, everyone emerged unharmed this time.
