poop, how the did the refs fix the Mavs Spurs series, did they hypnotize Manu and make him give up a three point play to Dirk or something?

btw - If I had to guess, I'd say you're 12 years old.

in '06 Spurs and Pistons were a lock for a finals rematch and the league wanted badly to avoid that scenario. both had won les previous 2 years, both had best records in the NBA.
after dallas steals a win in SA in game 2, the series is tied 1-1 going back to dallas and apparently the league saw it as an opening to off the spurs.

Game 3 in dallas: Dirk goes 3-9 from the field, yet shoots 25 freethrows. this is not a small quick slasher like wade, or a ruggeed low post scorer, but a jump shooter (no perimeter jumpshooter has ever recieved as many calls as Dirk did in this series) Dallas shoots FIFTY freethrows, more than any team has shot this year (where was the outrage then?) more than Miami shot in any game in the Finals that year, Duncan actually fouls out of the game -after Dirk (who else?) steps on his foot in one of the notorious phantom calls in playoff history, after the worst most one-sided officiated game in modern memory, the spurs lose-by ONE POINT. result: dallas takes 2-1 lead, with game 4 also being in dallas.

game 4 proceeds along the same lines with Dirk awarded 15 freethrows. Duncan spends most of the rest of the series in foul trouble.
despite having to compete against both the mavs AND the refs the spurs struggle valiantly and take it to the final moments of the final game.

a similar situation happened to detroit; in the '06 ECF, detroit was down 2-1 to miami. therefore in game 4, they could either tie the series, or go down 3-1. at this point the league saw their window to off detroit. in games 1,2, and 3, both teams shot an even number of freethrows, with wade averaging 9 attempts per game.
game 4: miami shoots a whopping 47 freethrows, more than doubling detroit's 22 attempts, and wade shoots 19, more than doubling his average for the first 3 games. result-miami goes up 3-1, goodbye pesky pistons.

and for the haters, the same disparities(anomoly games) occured in key games in the Finals favoring miami as well.

this is why i say 2006* ...the league tampered with certain key games that year in order to avoid unfavorable scenarios and promote more favorable ones.

Yep, WHENEVER one team shoots more free throws than the other, it's because the refs tampered with the game. It couldn't possibly mean and has never simply meant one team was more aggressive than the other while the other team took more jump shots. The amount of free throws should always be exactly even.

If a team is down by 20 with thirty seconds left in the game and has shot 21 less free throws than the other team, the refs should award that team's best free throw shooter 21 free throws or the game was rigged.

quit being an ass, no one is suggesting that.

but when the freethrows are virually even for 2-3 games then suddenly in a pivotal game one team shoots double their series average and TWICE as many as the other team, and the star of the more marketable team is awarded 2-3 times their average FT numbers, then yes typically it is an issue with the reffing.

Since you've backed yourself into a case by case basis thing:

Team A and team B are playing each other in a series.

Team A averaged 24.1 free throws attempted per game during the regular season, and team B's opponent shot on average 23.2 free throws per game during the regular season.

In that playoff series team A averaged 26.5 free throws attempted, and the most free throws that team attempted in a single game was 38, a game team A won. In all the other games there was either a negligible free throw discrepancy or team B shot way more free throws than team A.

Now tell me, poop, since you're an expert on when games are rigged and when they're not, was the game where team A shot 38 free throws tampered with, or since team A happens to be the Spurs, it was just great Spurs basketball?

it depends on alot of things. there are a million factors involved. you did not give enough information for me to make a judgement on that. you cant just say 'oh this team shot more this game so it was fixed'....im not an idiot.
and i will say the spurs lost in '04, '08, and '09 fair and square, so im not just some clown looking for excuses everytime he spurs lose.
2006* was a special case and several teams- not just the spurs-including our most hated rival, were the victims of it.

you did not give enough information
The FBI investigated the game and a ref is currently in jail who officiated the game, that enough information stick?

FT disparities are not always related to poor officiating.

Spurs just couldn't HANDLE dem Mavs

But 2006 Finals were rigged, Mavs 2006 NBA ing champs.

When you're a stupid homer that looks for evidence that supports your opinion that there is no way your team could lose fair and square yes they are.....unless your team shoots more free throws than the other team, in that case it's just your team being more aggressive.

so what is your point exactly? all you did is prove that sometimes games are tampered with.

Good point. Yet double standard. Spurs fans can't discredit the validity of that championship and at the same time applaud Shaq for winning that very same invalid championship just because it was without Kobe.
