Im sorry but if you quit on your team in a game, that means you had a bad game.

Sure, a bad game. But he didn't choke. He didn't play crappy. He didn't suck. That's the suggestion. That he played poorly, that he sucked. He didn't play poorly. He got pissed and quit on his team. Again, it's unacceptable. But, he wasn't playing poorly and he didn't suck.

I'm still waiting (for quite a while now) for baseline bum to explain how LeBron was "excellent" in game 7 of the 2006 playoff series against the Pistons. I have yet to get a response to that, and I've asked multiple times.

Kobe has ed up a lot in his career, but he has never led the Lakers to a 1st round exit to the ING DALLAS MAVERICKS IN DISGUSTING 4-1 FASHION LOSING THE SERIES ON HIS HOME ING FLOOR.
what purpose does this statement even serve ? this is stupid .

Duncan was the leader and best player on 4 championship teams . he's done more than enough in his career to be considered a better player than Kobe is up to this point ... there's really no debate over that .

Again what is the point of this thread?

Is this where Spur fans find satisfaction now that your team has no realistic chance of ever winning another NBA le?

You guys remind of San Francisco fans and their irrational hatred of LA. Their teams are such utter year in and year out the only thing they have to live for is watching successful SoCal sports franchises lose.

27,8, and 2 on 46% shooting is a pretty good showing I'd say. Not his fault the rest of his team didn't show up. Why can we excuse performances from Kobe when his teammates blow, and then not count an efficient performance from LeBron when he gets a worse showing out of his supporting cast than Kobe has ever gotten?

    Take note, Spur fans.

    Lakers v. Spurs playoff history

Since 1982, the Lakers have faced the Spurs 11 times in the playoffs, winning eight times and holding an overall edge in games. The Lakers are 4-0 against the Spurs in the conference final, winning 16 of the 19 games played.

    1982...Conference Final...Lakers ... 4-0
    1983...Conference Final...Lakers ... 4-2

    1986...First round.............Lakers ...3-0
    1988...First round ............Lakers ...3-0

    1995...Second round .......Spurs ..... 2-4
    1999*...Second round*......Spurs ..... 0-4
    2001...Conference Final...Lakers.....4-0
    2002...Second round .......Lakers.....4-1
    2003...Second round .......Spurs ..... 2-4
    2004...Second round........Lakers.... 4-2
    2008...Conference Final....Lakers....4-1

Wow, it's more dominating than anyone could have imagined. The Spurs should pray not to face the lakers in the Playoffs and definitely not in the 1st round or the Conference Finals where THEY ARE WINLESS!

    agree .

but in last minute of close game :

    Kobe>Duncan>Lebron

although , you can argue the Duncan/Kobe

Duncan has definitely hit his fair share of unbelievably clutch shots (2004 , which preceded the ".4" shot , and also the dagger against Phoenix last year - sorry about the reminder ) .

Then why is LeBron "excellent" in (you say three of four) elimination games when he's 1-3 in those games? Be consistent.

Kobe was having a very good game in game 7 of the 2006 when he got pissed at Phil Jackson for telling him to pass the ball more. 50% shooting from the field and the three point line and 24 points with hardly even shooting it in the second half. He quit on his team because he was pissed. Quitting doesn't mean he was having a crappy game. He got pissed at Phil and his teammates and quit on the team. Unacceptable, but not a crappy game for Kobe.

In game 5 of the 2007 Phoenix series, Kobe didn't shoot the ball well but he still put up 34 points. If LeBron did that, you'd applaud him for going down trying.

In the 2004 and 2008 NBA Finals, the last two games of those series (you did ignore game 5 of last year's Final where Kobe and the Lakers staved off elimination) were blow-outs. When a team beats another team like in those two games in the way they blew the Lakers out, you can't really look at individual performances on the losing team because the whole team sucked and they were playing catch up. But, fine, you can have those two games and say Kobe played crappy even though the whole team played like .
Kobe quitting on his team should be held up as a good game? So the time he puts up decent stats he throws the game. You're right about game 5 of the Finals last year; I forgot about that one, as I was thinking the huge choke was in game 5 and not 4. He had 5 steals and 7 boards, but still shot 38% in it.

I'm so glad you finally responded to this issue. And, I'm even happier you proved my point of just looking at those box score stats without really knowing what happened in the game.

Game 7 of the Pistons-Cavs series in 2006.

Two point difference at half time. LeBron had scored 21 of his points on 10-for15 shooting in the first half.

LeBron went 1-for-9 from the field in the second half. That two point Pistons lead ended up being an 18 point win for the Pistons. LeBron had two turnovers and zero assists in the second half. Did I mention he went 1-for-9 from the field in the second half? In a two point game.

You think anyone in the world who actually watched that game, especially the entire game to see how ineffective James was in the second half of this game 7 said James had an "excellent" game as you have so inaccurately suggested?

But, in your Kobe hate tirade, you failed to do your homework properly when suggesting LeBron has been "excellent" in all but one elimination game.

    Good talk.

For the record, Kobe is a great ing player and an obvious first ballot hall of famer, but no way am I taking him over LeBron or Duncan when my team is 48 minutes from elimination.

Kobe quitting on his team should be held up as a good game?
No, absolutely not. But, it should not be classified as him "sucking" or him playing poorly. In this thread, you've said Kobe "sucked" in elimination games. It's not that he sucked. He was playing fine. He quit. He quit out of frustration with his teammates and being upset at Phil. No, it wasn't a good game for Kobe obviously. But, he wasn't performing poorly. That is your whole point in this Kobe hate thread. That he sucks in elimination games. He didn't in that particular game.

So the time he puts up decent stats he throws the game. You're right about game 5 of the Finals last year; I forgot about that one, as I was thinking the huge choke was in game 5 and not 4. He had 5 steals and 7 boards, but still shot 38% in it.

the asterisk thing is re ed , only brought up sore losers , who can't man up to a loss ...

and i could care less how many times LA beat the Spurs . Spurs got LA twice , the second time ending a fraudulent dynasty , and getting to see Kobe and Fisher cry

So having a bad second half shooting the ball is equivalent to just laying down and dying in the second half?

You know damn well that's not what I just argued.

You specifically stated LeBron has been "excellent" in elimination games except one time. I brought up this game specifically to refute that. Unless you call that game an "excellent" performance by LeBron James, you should have not responded again with a tangental argument and taken your medicine like a good kid.

Alot of Kobe perceptions will change when he gets his 4th ring...that's a pretty huge milestone in his career.

If Kobe can get his 5th and 6th, he'll solidify his place as one of the game's Greatest.
