I bought new glasses recently. I went to Eye Masters and paid over $100 for mine. And that was with 50% off!
Anyone bought glasses lately? Its about time I bought new glasses, its been such a long time since I bought my last pair. Wondering if anyone notice any deals and has anyone been to that My 39.95 place?

Dude good luck on getting glasses for 40 bucks. Mine cost me at least $200.
Every two years it's My Econo for me.
I just picked up new glasses yesterday. I had the new prescription put into frames that I already had and still love, but my lenses alone were about $160.
My last pair of glasses cost $750! Seriously.
I have three different prescriptions in each lens- one for distance, one for computer, one for reading- also astigmatism in both eyes and special coating on the lenses for my night blindness.
I was hoping to do just that, I like my frames, but they're pretty much broken now. I've had these for about 10yrs, longest pair I've had.
Holy cow! I'd like to get a pair of prescribed sunglasses but they want over $500, because I have progressive bifocals.
Why do glasses cost so much?
Was that just an in store special or an ad in the paper?
In store special, but it was for about 2-3 months.
Damn, I believe it. I use to carry eye insurance and my las pair was still $340.
Mine have progressive lenses- those lenses with the coating for my night blindness cost me about $600.
My insurance does not pay for any of it.![]()
I desperately need new glasses but I wear contacts most of the time so it hasn't been a priority. Also when I have checked them out I just see walls and walls of the same frame. Too boring. But I take my kid to the 2 for $99 deal at Eyemasters and we always get off pretty cheaply.
that's what I do. I go when they have their "buy one pair, get one free" deals. Usually ends up costing $250 or so for both pair.
I bought new glasses about 3 years ago. I went to an eye doctor first and the prices ranged from 150-350. I decided to go to the Eye Center at Wal-Mart and, for lenses and frames, spent about 80 bucks total (with insurance).
I have never worn contacts but I have been tempted since they now have multi-focal progressive contacts that can also correct for astigmatism. My opthlamologist said they work for about half his patents who try them.
Don't got to Wal-Mart thinking they have cheaper glasses, they aren't.

I still have those glasses. I wear contacts 99% of the time but those glasses are fine ... especially considering the price.
I wonder if that company is still around or if it got shot down by now . . .
I'm afraid of buying glasses online. My husband ordered a pair online though.![]()
I'm trying to save up for the Lasik......
My office building has like 10 optometrists and 5 dentists. I need to go to one someday. The day that I print out my health insurance card from the website will be the best day ever.
So, I haven't bought glasses recently...but I need to.![]()
is that the one ran by Mike Nutzitch? i bought my glasses from him a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time ago.
I'm hoping to win an auction today on eBay for a super cool pair of vintage cateye frames. If I do, those will be my new sunglasses. Probably not practical for everyday use since old frames aren't as comfortable, but much cheaper than a new pair of sunglasses.
I've had to buy 2 pairs of glasses in a pretty short period of time, each time was about $170 after insurance. I just got my new pair maybe 2 months ago and they already got messed up by an emery board in my purse.
If you don't have specific vision insurance, you still might be eligible for a pretty good discount through your health insurance. Oh, and my last pair I got through Eyetex on 281 ... and they were awesome, and ridiculously cheaper than Lenscrafters.
